Riverlea Cottage is a 1920s villa with lots of Art on the walls & a home-like feel 2km from Cafes & shops. We'd describe it as a classic Kiwi Country Bach - unpretentious with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Amenities include a modern Kitchen & Bathroom, a good high pressure shower, comfy beds, good WIFI, off-street parking, plenty of heating and a quiet location. Quiet and peaceful Taumarunui Gets a lot of train noise as trains pass through 24 hours a day. which can be problematic for center-of-town locations. Riverlea cottage is protected from this noise by a large embankment 50m behind the house that blocks most of the train noise Central Just a 5 minute drive to Shops, Cafes and Supermarket yet next to a farm- like reserve next to the river - the best of both worlds Description The house contains everything you need to enjoy your stay with everything you'd have at home. This includes all Kitchenware, Bedding, and internal Laundry. We have set the house up to be Comfortable and relaxed. Type of Holiday House. This is a comfortable affordable old country home with newish Kitchen and bathroom. It's full of Art with lots of Books, Magazines, games, Pool table outdoor seating and Barbeque with an atmosphere that gives you a good feeling. The house is clean tidy and well kept. Most of all, Riverlea Cottage is a place where you can relax. Sometimes we have guests say this is like a holiday from our Holiday and they love it. Entertainment: Lots of Board games, Pool Table, Swing Ball, Barbeque, and outdoor tables and seating. • Late Checkout is available for weekend guests staying two nights or more in most instances. (Please check when booking) • Secure lockable shed for storing Bikes and other equipment. Will fit 6 at a squeeze • Full Laundry with Washing machine and Dryer in house. • Weekender Fridge in Kitchen, Larger Fridge in the Bunkroom off the Kitchen • Plenty of off-street parking • Continental Breakfasts available - Cereal, Bread, Jams and preserves, Milk Coffee Tea and optional fruit upon request. A small additional charge will apply. • Inside the cottage is as described, recently painted, new Kitchen and Bathroom, a new Heat pump with a great Shower. The cottage also has comfortable Queen beds, a smart TV with Netflix, Wifi and a Stereo. •The cottage has lots of heating for winter warmth we've recently upgraded this so each bedroom has a new heater. The lounge has a modern Heat pump and the Kitchen Dining room has a Tevo heater for instant heat. Outside, the Cottage has nice lines and is as you can see in the photos. The Garden is cottage-like, unpretentious, and tidy with fresh flowers in the garden in the Spring-Summer months and early Autumn. At the rear of the house is a functional parking area and next to the back door is a basic well-used outdoor seating area with an outdoor table. There is enough space to park two or three cars and more space along the driveway. We once had a car club park eight cars off-street. Location The Cottage is about a 5-minute drive to the Restaurants and Cafes on the Main Street which is about 2km away. The house is located next to a public farmlike reserve and is 150m from the Wanganui River. You can just walk across the paddocks to get to the river and catch trout from the banks. Area: Most of the houses in the area are middle-income 3 and 4-bedroom 1920s bungalows and for the most part are well kept. You can see most people take pride in their properties. Neighbours Looking out from the front of the house there is an attractive view of the poplar trees, willows, rolling hills, and pasture land beyond them. There is a largely empty section on one side of us as their house was destroyed by fire 5 years ago. Behind us and on the other side of us are families with young children. The neighbor on the other side of us is a rent. They are a family with Children who are reasonably quiet bar a bit of play on the trampoline. You can hear them playing outside in the evenings in Summer. overall the neighbours are quiet as a rule. About the Owner Riverlea Cottage is owned by a local Artist and many artworks on the walls are for sale see marktyrrellart dot com to see samples of his work. Mark Paints in a variety of styles and has Illustrated for many of the country's bigger Advertising and Design agencies. Mark and his partner escaped from Auckland 10 years ago to enjoy a country lifestyle, where he keeps bees does a little hunting but mostly enjoys his passion for Art and Ceramics. Ask for more information. The whole house is available for your use except the Garage and shed. Saying this there is space for several cars on the driveway. Other things to note As we are coming into Winter it is worth noting that Taumarunui gets down to minus 5 degrees in Winter. At the cottage, though there is plenty of heating with mostly new heaters in all the bedrooms, with heating in the Lounge and Kitchen and dining rooms that will keep your group warm and cozy. We always warm the cottage up before you arrive. We also recommend in Winter if you are going out for the day and coming back late afternoon or evening that you let us know and I will pop down and warm the house up an hour before you get back as part of the service. The property is ideal for contractors looking to stay when working Taumarunui. Everything you need to be comfortable is in the house. For Bookings of 2 or more nights, the maximum number of guests at one time is 8 people *Weekends Weekend Guests, Special late Check-outs are available. (not available for one-night stays). This means on Sunday morning you can pack your bags go and do whatever you have planned for the day leaving by 10ish and then we clean the house and make the beds. Then after your day out, you can use the house again between 3 pm and 5 pm to have a shower and coffee to refresh before going back home or to the next destination. Please respect this special offer. The time span offered is strictly 3 pm to 5 pm Please note this option is only available for guests who stay Friday and Saturday nights. If you're a local and wish to stay on the property you will be asked to provide recent Landlord references. If any member of your group has a police record we will not be able to host your group.
