Palazzo Pizzo Residence + garden terrace

This unique apartment is located in a restored vaulted stone cellar in an over 200 year old palazzo perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea. Relax on your private garden terrace, enjoy the late morning sun, have an aperitivo while watching the sunset. From this residential area of the oldest part of Pizzo's centro storico it's just a 2 min walk to the lively main square with a good choice of restaurants, bars and grocery shops. The local beach is a 10-15 min walk downhill. The space This unique apartment is located in the restored vaulted cellar of an over 200 year old palazzo with a floor space of about 70 m2 (753 sq ft). From the entrance 20 steep stone steps are leading downstairs, passing the bathroom, into a bright hallway with large windows facing the sea. The new and well equipped kitchen at the end of the hallway allows to prepare breakfast and cook meals. From the kitchen you have a balcony with sea view and access to the garden terrace. The bedroom with its queen size bed sleeps 2. It is separated by a paravent from the living area and its sofa bed and TV. The living area has access to the garden terrace. The private garden terrace offers spectacular sea and sunset views over the bay of St.'Eufemia and on clear days views of the Vulcano island Stromboli which is part of the Eolian Islands of Sicily. Enjoy an aperitivo on your private terrace before having dinner in one of Pizzo's many little reasonable priced restaurants. The local beach at Pizzo Marina below the castello is a 10-15 minutes walk (about 400m) away across the piazza and downhill. Back to the residence it's a 15 min walk, or call the Ape-taxi service if it is too tiring to walk uphill. The apartment (completely restored 2007-2012) has double glazing windows, central heating, air condition, small washing machine, large SMEG fridge, oven/microwave and WIFI. Free parking in public area. Our renovation project of the palazzo is chronicled on my popular blog and was featured in The New York Times and International Herald Tribune in May 2012. Guest access The entire apartment and garden terrace is just for you during your stay. Other things to note IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: There are renovation works in progress around Pizzo. There might be an impact from construction sites during work hours during your stay : Please note that the harbour / promenade (lungomare) of the town of Pizzo continues (as of 08/2024) and the earth and stone movement of the construction site below Palazzo Pizzo Residence can cause noise disturbances during working hours (Mo-Fr about 8am-11:30am and 13:00-15:30). The city tax of Pizzo Calabro (tassa di soggiorno) is €2.00 per person (>14 years of age) per night and applies all year round (as of March 2019) for a maximum of 14 nights (as of January 2025). We are also required to provide all guest names together with data from your ID/passports to the Questura within 24 h of your check-in. Please help us to comply with the local regulations and provide your travel documents via email before arrival - or let us take photos. There is no car or scooter rental in Pizzo. You can rent a car at Lamezia Terme airport, or rent a car or scooter in Tropea. Please rent a SMALL car (smallest category). If you need a pick-up service we can help to book a taxi for you from/to airport or train station on own cost. The weeks around August 15th are the peak of the high season and there will be an increase of visitors to Pizzo with some impact on daily life: traffic jams, chaotic parking, slower service, loud late night entertainment but also some interesting cultural events, ‘sagras’, concerts, processions and local festivities in the diverse squares and alleys.
