The space Our two spacious cottages enjoy a privileged location in Estreito da Calheta which is situated on the sunny west coast of this idyllic island. Gulf Stream waters lap the shores of Madeira resulting in fantastic summers and mild winters making the island an exquisite holiday destination all year round. Each cottage has its own private terrace and the panoramic views are spectacular! Lavender Cottage is a 2 bedroomed, 2 bathroom cottage; perfect for 4 people. The living area with its vaulted ceiling comprises an open plan kitchen and comfortable dining area. There is a wonderful flow between this and the glass fronted, comfortably furnished lounge area which opens onto a private terrace; ideal for alfresco dining. And for those occasional chilly days or evenings there is a cosy wood burning stove fireplace central to the living area. The bedrooms are extremely spacious and well equipped and are fitted with overhead fans for those still sultry nights. The sliding glass doors that lead out to the garden can be shuttered in the traditional way for extra privacy or for those sensible afternoon siestas. The kitchens are fully equipped and we supply all the necessary linens and towels. There is a stunning swimming pool area landscaped into the fully enclosed shared garden. No better place could be found for those days when doing very little but relaxing and sunbathing is what you are after. Banda do Sol is within easy travelling distance (7 minutes by car) to Vila Calheta - a lovely area with an outstanding sandy beach, a big marina, a well stocked supermarket, great coffee bars and some good restaurants serving local specialities. Within walking distance there is a mini market and cafe. And if walking is what you enjoy then this area offers some of the finest levada walking on Madeira!
