The pool house, distinctly separate from the historic main house, offers a private 40' pool, landscaped gardens expansive meadows and direct access to hiking and biking trails. Lounge poolside and wander the apple orchard and gardens. Grill and dine alfresco and stargaze the open sky. Close to great restaurants, shops and more! Incredibly peaceful and tranquil, this country estate is located only 50 miles from New York City, and to drive to the nearest train station takes less than 15 minutes. The guesthouse is part of a historic estate on one of the most scenic roads in all of Connecticut. The main house dates to 1768 and is steeped in Revolutionary War history. Later, it was a stop on the Underground Railroad. The large barn is bookended with beautiful organic vegetable, fruit, herb and flower gardens for you to stroll. Fresh, homegrown ingredients for your lunches or dinners are available at our stand around the corner. Wrap windows in the bedroom feature views of the pool and gardens, and French doors give you direct access to the pool. Wake up refreshed on the new queen bed with high quality linens. Make coffee any way of your choosing: French Press, pour over or drip coffee maker. Fresh coffee beans and grinder are also provided as a courtesy. The spacious bathroom with teak benches, a glass door shower, and private lavatory leaves nothing wanting. The kitchen, while on the small side, has everything one needs to prepare simple meals. Alternatively, prepare meals on the new Weber gas grill overlooking the expansive meadows. Plenty of towels are provided for the bath and pool. There is easy guest access and parking is near the pool house through a stone walkway and iron gates. Instructions for access to the pool house will be given at the time of booking. The main house sits separately from the pool house with utmost privacy. The pool and pool house are set behind stone walls and gardens, providing you with a luxurious privacy during your stay. While we respect your privacy, we remain available for anything you might need. Feel free to roam the flower & vegetable gardens, stroll the apple orchard the large fields where we may be found tending to the vegetables and flowers. At an agreeable time, we like to check on the pool's chemistry, scoop any leaves, etc. to keep the pool beautiful during your stay. We are happy to provide suggestions for the numerous hikes, cycling routes, restaurants, etc. Fresh vegetables may be available at our little farm stand or by request. Redding, CT is known as "The Vermont of Connecticut". Beautiful country setting and roads to explore, nearby hiking trails, interesting towns to walk, dine and visit local museums. We are available to answer and questions and offer suggestions for places to visit. There is no public transportation and a car is required. Biking is a great way to explore the country roads. While we totally respect your privacy, we also remain available for anything you might need. At an agreeable time each day we will need to service the pool which only takes 10 minutes or so.
