Description

Aphroula's House is perfect for a family holiday with the parents upstairs, and the children with their own space, downstairs. As the stairwell itself is fully within the building, the effect is of a normal two-storey house. Equally, the house is very suitable for two couples holidaying together. The House is exactly 1 km from the Milina waterfront, and as the lane ends at the House, it is very quiet - there is no passing traffic. The space The first floor of Aphroula's House has a large open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area, which opens onto the terrace, shaded with an awning and with views down the valley and to the sea. On the terrace there is a large marble table, chairs, and two sun-loungers. The bedroom, with large double bed, and generous cupboard space, also opens onto the terrace. The bathroom, with shower cubicle and low-level WC, has a wash basin unit with large mirror and plenty of cupboard space. The kitchen is equipped with full sized cooker and 4 rings, extractor, toaster, kettle and coffee maker, and there is a full complement of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils. There is also a washing machine. The dining table seats 4, and in the sitting area there is a large and comfortable sofa, which converts into a double bed, and two easy chairs. There is a music centre with CD player, FM radio and Bluetooth, so that you can stream music from your phone or tablet. Both the bedroom and the sitting area have ceiling fans, and the sitting area also has an air conditioner, which cools the whole Apartment. The downstairs bedroom has twin beds, with space for a third, folding, bed. The en-suite shower-room/WC has a shower cubicle, low-level WC and wash-basin unit. There is ample cupboard space, with a chest of drawers, and rail with plenty of clothes hangers. There is a kitchen corner with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and coffee-maker, while outside in a covered area there is a second sink, a small electric oven and rings, a barbecue and dining table and chairs. The terrace in front of the downstairs bedroom leads down to an attractive flower and shrub garden and beyond to a productive vegetable garden. There is an outside marble table, and two sun loungers, and, as upstairs, there is a ceiling fan and air conditioning. Outside in the alfresco kitchen/dining are there is a BBQ for the use of guests. Behind the house the hills, covered with olive trees, climb steeply to the village of Lafkos. The lane stops here at the house, so there is no passing traffic... it's very peaceful. Our Village: Milina is the largest of the seaside villages here in South Pelion - though that is not saying much, with an electoral register of only some 800 souls. However, we have a good grocery and provisions store, two butchers, two bakers, two souvenir shops, and a couple of shops selling 'summer things' - beach shoes, sun hats, and buckets and spades, etc - and a chemist. And along the waterfront there is a really good selection of tavernas specialising in traditional Greek dishes. There are several souvlaki joints, a pizza palace, and several bars and cafes all with the sea just a metre or so away. Finally the beaches. The sea here in the Gulf of Volos is normally quiet, calm and warm, and as the beaches don't shelve, and there are no rocks or currents, it is ideal for children. Guest access Guests staying at the House have full access to the terrace and garden below the house, and to the rest of our olive groves. Other things to note Aphroula's House is just 1km from the Milina waterfront. It's very easy walking, with the road flat until the last hundred metres or so of the return, when it starts to gently rise. TAXES. In the Prices box above the final cost you will see an item 'Taxes'. This refers to the Greek government mandated Climate Crisis Resilience Fee (in Greek ΤΑΚΚ ΔΙΑΜΟΝΗ). For the summer 2025 period (1 March - 31 October) this charge is Euros 8.00 per accommodation unit per night, and will be passed on to the Greek tax authority (ΑΑΔΕ).
