The space The area of Merry Beach is surrounded by Murramarang National Park, a protected wildlife area. The beauty of the natural bushland meeting the magnificent ocean, attracts many visitors. It is clean and untouched. You can walk over to Pretty Beach and find rare and protected nesting birds, being managed by wildlife scientists from Univ of Canberra as there is a campus up the road. Similarly you can drive through the bush road to the highway and find many bee hives set up by the Univ as everyone knows the threat to the survival of the bee at present. Walking on the many local bushland or coastal tracks is refreshing and relaxing. Guest access The local area walks - signage up at the beaches giving distances and time allowed - best ones leave from Pretty Beach - walk over mountain south of Merry Beach or drive short distance to Pretty Beach and start walk. The walk to Pretty Beach includes viewing magnificent cliffs with safe lookouts. Look out for the wallabies rustling in the bush. It is also a lovely walk from the house around the point heading north. You will come across a small pebbly beach that is a lovely clear water, refreshing place for a swim. A little further north you will see a blowhole that maybe in action and keep going further until you come to Kioloa Beach. Look for the resident sting ray close to the south end of Kioloa beach.
