Each has a single but spacious bedroom and bathroom that can accomodate a couple and is serviced by its own kitchenette. Rather than a large pool, Chez Mélanie has chosen to offer its guests, individual small pools, also called "plunge pool". Small pools are easier to clean and can have frequent change of water. Despite rough life in the mountains, Chez Melanie offers Wifi, micrcowave, and a refrigerator (drinks and food items not included in the rent). While the place is cool, guests have the option of using the aircon and ceiling fan. With advance notice, good restaurant food can be ordered. Mount Talinis is also known by the name of Cuernos de Negros, a volcanic complex of craters, lakes, forest and rich wildlife and fauna. Talinis lakes host snails, shrimps, fish and many lakes species. It is home to 91 kind of trees and rare birds and animals including monkeys, sunbirds, tarictic hornbills, spotted deers, and Visayan warty pigs. In the place called "Liptong", where Chez Mélanie is located, guests have frequently seen an owl, coming from Liptong Woodland. A one-hectare conservation site, Liptong Woodland protects a hundred, mostly endangered Philippine trees and a number of rare plants and flowers. Some trees are species that date to the Jurassic period. From Chez Mélanie, Liptong Woodland is a half-kilometer trek or short ride. Mt. Talinis is a favorite of hikers, trekkers, mountaineers and mountain bikers. Sportive mountaineers traverse Mt Talinies in a 2 or 3-day climb from Apolong, Valencia to Bediao, Dauin ( or vice-versa ). Others do the trek up to Yagumyum Lake for a day. Still others just go down the slippery 300 steps to see the majestic Casaroro Falls. Most visitors find the experience challenging and spectacular. Other interesting sites in neighboring towns include the Oslob whale shark experience, Manjuyod sandbar, Apo Island Giant turtle visit, Red Stone hotsprings, and the Balinsasayao mountain Lakes. Guest access Guests of Unit 2 house have exclusive access to its spacious bedroom and bathroom, an interior kitchenette, a patio, a private pool, and a laundry/clothes-line area. A gas stove and a BBQ grill for outdoor cooking are available and shared between two houses.
