Description
Small beach cabin in the dunes with access to a beautiful sandy beach. Very quiet area on the Baie des Chaleurs. The island is great for bird watching and the beach is a popular destination for kite surfing. If you are visiting with children take advantage of the self guided treasure hunt that encourages exploration of the beautiful natural and historic areas of the two islands (Lameque and Miscou). Tell me a bit about yourself and what draws you here to ensure this is the place for you. The space Located in a quiet, beachfront neighbourhood the cabin is nestled in the dunes on a large lot with a wide open sky. We built a large deck as there is no lawn, only natural dune grass. For me and my family, it is all about the beach which is only a short walk from the cabin. There is one bedroom with double bed and an open bedroom with twin beds. Large kitchen and eating area, good size bathroom with shower, and sun room with a lovely view. It is casual, airy and comfortable and has many doors to the wrap around deck. The cottage was originally a one room road side barbershop that we picked up in the area. We had planned to make it a basic camping cabin, but life got a little more complicated and we renovated and added on to make a useable family friendly little cottage. Kitchen is equipped the basics: dishes cutlery, drink ware pots and non stick frying pans. There is an oven, three induction burner portable cook tops, a large toaster oven, refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker, slow cooker and blender. There is a BBQ and propane tank. Please note that there is no internet service nor cable tv provider to the area (no wifi and one channel on television). That said, cell phone reception is quite good and hot spot setup is possible. Guest access Neighbourhood private beach access only a short walk away. Small Parking area near the path can be used for loading and unloading. The cabin is not equipped with handicap access. There are stairs and sections of low deck without railings. Please advise me and be sure to select the numbers when filling in your form, if you plan to receive guests or are bringing a dog, there is an additional charge for pets. This is an island of early risers, and the cottage is as bright as the photos show, so come prepared if you like to sleep in late. Other things to note THE WATER IS NOT POTABLE Since we are only a few feet above sea level, and are located in the sand dunes, the water is not considered safe for human consumption due to the high mineral count, but is fine for bathing. Two large refillable water jugs are provided for drinking and cooking. Also, this is New Brunswick, so there are moustiques. We find that they mostly come out at dusk for about an hour. However, wet or humid days with no wind can be a little different. Stop at the information centre just after the bridge to find out what is going on in the area. The lighthouse has live performances (en francais) most nights and tickets can be purchased at the information centre near the bridge. There is also a social media page dedicated to this venue: "Voir Miscou et mourir".
