Description

Experience the Sunrise spectacular at 'White Caps Kaikoura'. Quiet, relaxing & peaceful - sunrise view from your bed - starry skies - close-up mountains - spacious, light & airy - beautiful wood throughout - creative touches - outdoor deck - secure parking - toast and cereal is included - and a wee bit of whale whimsy throughout. Truly, a home away from home. The space Overview: Make yourself at home in this spacious loft-bedroom studio with large living area and acres of glass, opening onto our 2-hectare lifestyle property. You will marvel at the serenity of being just 10 minutes from Kaikoura town. No near neighbours, no street noise. Just an amazing view of the mountains, a night sky full of stars, a couple of cows, a few flighty sheep, and a fuzzy Golden Doodle. Living room: The space is large and lofty, with a two-story high cedar wood ceiling, beachy white floorboards and coastal decor. There is a queen bed upstairs on a mezzanine floor and a sofa bed downstairs. Please note that the bathroom is down the stairs from the bedroom. Dining: This guest studio is like a peaceful rural retreat away from it all. That includes cooking! There is no kitchenette, sink or microwave. What you do have is a full-size dining table and a dresser filled with plenty of tableware for your drinks, nibbles and takeaway. There is a sweet retro mini fridge (no freezer), a kettle, toaster and Nespresso machine. If you would like something microwaved, just ask, we are happy to help! Sunrise: The Loft bedroom faces due east. Depending on the time of year, the sun will either rise out of the sea right in front of your eyes while you lay in bed, or, in winter, will peek out over the adjacent hills. It's very inspiring, and cloud patterns can create some sublime colours in the Kaikoura region, but it is early in the summertime! In case you don't find it romantic ;-) … we can provide you with a brand new complimentary eye mask. Just mention it. TV: 32 " flatscreen smart TV with satellite freeview channels and Netflix and Disney+ Breakfast: In the morning, make yourself breakfast at your leisure. We provide milk, bread for toast, margarine, spreads, cereals, and freshly boiled eggs from our neighbour’s happy hen house. These things are already in the room/fridge. Parking: Secure parking is right in front of the house and your loft studio. If you have a precious vehicle or loads of personal stuff in a van, this is the place for you. We even have enough space for boats on trailers. Guest access Gaining entry: Our guest studio is located at the eastern end of our ranch-style house. However, we have not listed it as a private room because you do not have to share any entries, rooms or spaces with anybody else. It is totally independent, with a separate lockable entrance (glass ranch sliders), 100% all your own space - about 50 sq. metres, not including the large outdoor deck on two sides. You will have the upstairs loft bedroom and the downstairs living area and private bathroom all to yourself. This whole space is locked off from the rest of our house. Guests are free to walk around our 2-hectare property and see the amazing mountain views from all angles. You can sit at your picnic table (just outside your door on the deck) and gaze at the mountains and listen to the morning or the night sounds. Our current residents are a calf called Clarabelle and some young sheep. The Hapuku River is just down the wooded gully beside the house. For access to the river, you can drive just two minutes down the road. Bring your bikes, the trail is close by, and don't forget the surf beach, 5 minutes away. Other things to note *** We are a rural property, surrounded by dairy farms and cattle, deer and sheep properties. They are very pesky, but please be prepared for a few flies or wasps in the summer. *** Please use a disposable towelette (in the dresser) to wipe down the Adirondack chairs that are outside on the deck. Do not use the room's tea towels or wash cloths from the bathroom. *** Please be aware of the extra step after the landing at the bottom of the stairs! Do not forget it. Take care at all times! *** All our one-night guests write in the guest book that they regret not staying longer... think about it! Message me if you have questions.
