HURRICANE OTIS The house suffered cosmetic damage, The garden was badly damaged. One of the earliest villas in Acapulco, built in 1943 and still owned by the same English/American family. The location is spectacular with our own ocean access for swimming fronting the beautiful gardens. There is a staff of two who cook, make up the rooms and may go shopping for you, too. This property is all about location - the sunrise, the view, the fresh wind coming off the Pacific. HURRICANE OTIS DAMAGE The house suffered cosmetic damage, but the garden was very badly damaged. The first photos are from after the hurricane. The WiFi is now faster than ever. This is an open-air house. You will spend most of your time on the terraces overlooking the bay, and that is where you will be served your meals. There are chaises for resting or reading on the covered terrace, or you can take a chair out to sit in the sun. Walk down to the sea through the garden to swim, look at the fish, snorkel, or watch the sunset! The location is one of the most secluded in Acapulco, down a cul-de-sac. The house hosted many of the Acapulco Set in the 40's & 50's, and is just down the street from a hotel that used to be owned by John Wayne and Bobby Weissmuller (Tarzan). The house and bedrooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. "IF YOU WANT THE MOST MODERN FACILITIES, LIKE IN A HOTEL, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE! WE KEEP THE HOUSE IN THE ORIGINAL 1940'S STYLE." The sea in front of our house has many kinds of fish and animals. Look at the image of the whales that visit in the spring in the photos. There are dolphins, turtles and many colorful tropical fish. Bring a mask and snorkel and see the fish right off our ladder! The house is surrounded by a lush green outdoor setting, and is on the shore, so expect harmless geckos, bugs, birds, iguanas, raccoons, etc. Due to fallen trees, there is currently only parking for two cars. You can walk to various convenience stores. The caretaker/gardener lives in his own quarters separate from the house but on the property. He works 8 hours between 7am and 8pm. The cook/maid comes in from outside (from 9am to 6pm with an hour for her lunch) to cook your meals and clean the rooms. The staff will do your shopping for you, as long as you pay for the cab fare to the local supermarket. Please check prices with them before they do the shopping. HURRICANE OTIS DAMAGE The house suffered cosmetic damage, but the garden was very badly damaged. The oldest neighborhood in Acapulco, but once you drive in through the gates you are in your own world. Just across from our house is the beautiful Roqueta Island, a protected nature reserve. The wind comes in off the Pacific, but the island shelters us from ocean waves or weather. You can call a taxi, but the owners rarely leave the property, and you may want to stay home and relax too! Please see the "Guide" on this page for things to do. Have your food delivered (remember, the cook will cook your meals), and the staff are usually willing to pick up an extra item or two at the stores down the street. We walk down the steps through the front garden to our own dock and swim in the sea. Sea temperature in October was 84F. (We do not have an artificial pool - we’ve never wanted one). This property is about old world charm, location, the sea, the private dock, the garden and the views. If you want the most modern house please look elsewhere!
