Sal del Mar is located in the town of Isabel Segunda on the island of Vieques. We are minutes away from the Plaza, grocery store, and shops, and Sea Glass Beach is just a short walk away. The upstairs apartment, with its private entrance, has expansive views of the ocean and the main island of Puerto Rico. The apartment boasts a fully furnished and workable kitchen, an open living area, a front porch overlooking the street, and a small bedroom where you can fall asleep to the sound of the sea. The space Your lodging will be located on second floor of our home. Your view from the back deck will be wonderful and the ocean will shimmer in the sunlight. You will be treated to marvelous sunsets right from your own deck! This fully refurbished apartment, including new furniture, updated kitchen, and laundry, is a great way to relax and rejuvenate. There is one private bedroom and a futon/couch located in the living room. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and a small AC unit sized to cool the bedroom only. Fans are also available throughout the apartment but the ocean breezes are often enough to cool the apartment. While our maximum occupancy is listed as three, this is a small space so you will have to know each other very well if there are more than two of you. We can sleep two comfortably, three in a pinch. Sal del Mar includes a wonderful street-side porch, a large living room, an updated kitchen with a range, refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee pot, microwave, pots, pans, blender, dishes, and everything you need to prepare your own meals. There is even a propane BBQ grill on the back deck and gas is included! There is one small bathroom with a shower, and the apartment has one small bedroom with two windows to allow to ocean breeze to cool the entire space. The rear deck faces the ocean; the front porch offers street-side views. This apartment is not recommended for infants, toddlers, or children under the age of five (5) due to stairs, railings, and an open front porch. Guest access At the base of the stairs, just inside the gate there is a lock box with the apartment key for self check in. You will be given the code to the lock box on the morning of your arrival. Access to the apartment is by an exterior set of stairs; there are fifteen steps and a handrail leading to the apartment. There is also a wonderful front porch, and an ocean view back deck, which you are free to use. Please note that the upstairs apartment has a separate entrance that is not connected to or shared with the downstairs apartment. We are located only a seven-minute walk from the Vieques ferry terminal. One can usually walk to and from there faster than drive, as the only traffic jam in Vieques occurs when the ferry arrives! Please check Puerto Rico Ferry dot com for more information or to purchase your tickets. Despite what you read, the ferry service is much improved from years past! Other things to note When you stay in the town of Isabel Segunda there is little need to rent a car! You can walk just about everywhere, but if you do want to rent a car, please make your reservations in advance. If you are looking to explore the beaches on the Caribbean side or visit the town of Esperanza you may want to consider renting some mode of transportation (Jeep, car, golf cart or scooter). You can use your own devices to stream movies on our Internet; we do not have a TV and our Internet provider does not support gaming. Many US cell phones carriers provide service on Vieques, with no roaming charges. The tap water is excellent/safe to drink and the currency is the US Dollar. There are a number of ATM's in town. Most of the shops, stores, and restaurants accept ATM and credit cards, but some places only take cash. Many vendors also have minimum limits on ATM and credit card charges (e.g., varies from $5 to $15).
