Description
No road access, off grid cabin on Butterfly Lake in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area of south central Alaska. This is a dry cabin off the road system for the adventurous traveler. Road system (Aprox 10 miles away). Summer access is by canoeing the NLSRA state park trail system (aprox 4 hr paddle w 8 portages) or floatplane. Winter access is a multi use trail system for skiing, snowmachining, fat tire bike, etc. Enjoy a truly remote Alaskan experience not to far away from it all! The space This cabin is off the grid and off the road system. You cannot drive a vehicle to this cabin. Access is by canoe/kayak/skiing/fat tire bike/snowmachine or a floatplane drop off. Put in at mile 4.5 of the Nancy Lake Parkway at the state park canoe trailhead and paddle,ski, aprox 4 hrs (30 min on snowmachine) with portages along the canoe route or float the little su river and portage over to East Butterfly Lk. Explore, watch for wildlife or fish the many lakes along the route. You can safely park at the trailhead in the state park(fee required). Flying in is an option by contacting a flyout service that would drop you off at the shore of the cabin. Excellent drinking water is available at a nearby artesian well. The cabin is comfortable with many windows to enjoy nature from the inside. If your looking for a quiet place to unplug, this is it! Guest access Guests have the entire place to plan there days activity or just kick back next to the lake and enjoy! Other things to note Guests will need to bring with them enough food for all there meals during there stay. This is a dry cabin with no refrigeration, off the road system, with no store or restaurant available so plan your meals accordingly. Excellent water available from a well and the basic cooking setup (gas cook stove, pots and pans and utensils) are all in the cabin. There’s plenty of firewood for the wood stove if needed and the bathroom is an outhouse. This is a back to the basics place to unwind and unplug, comfortable for a night or two for some or a week for others.
