Description

Sometimes we all need a place to breathe. This peaceful casita on our 6-acre ranch offers space to reconnect—whether you’re here to reset, create, work remotely, explore with friends, deepen family bonds, or enjoy a quiet couples’ escape. Share mornings with gentle horses and curious goats, watch sunsets paint the mountains, and unwind under star-filled skies. Sit with the stillness, and let the desert air clear your mind. Santa Fe waits nearby with its art, history, and timeless enchantment. The space ~Beyond the Gate: Where Stillness Speaks Behind earth-toned stucco walls at 7,000 feet, Reflect Reinvent Casita rests where the Sangre de Cristo, Ortiz, and Jemez mountains cradle the landscape. Guests often arrive thinking they’ve simply booked a place to stay. They leave realizing they found something more. What surprises most people is how close they get to the animals here. Our horses and goats move freely in their roomy quarter-acre corral, part of which sits right outside the kitchen window. They may wander over, gently curious, offering rare up-close moments many guests have never experienced in their lifetime. It’s simple, genuine ranch life—unfiltered, grounding, and unforgettable. ~The Setting Russian olive trees dance with evergreens. Three Colombian Paso Fino horses and Nigerian dwarf goats create those unguarded moments where you remember what real connection feels like. A wildflower meadow stretches behind the casita during late spring, while copper-roofed sheds dot the landscape. ~The Space Rooms feel spacious despite the compact footprint. Well equipped kitchen with full sized refrigerator and range, two bedrooms, living space, and a bathroom with artisan beeswax walls, Mexican tile accents, a massage style variable shower head. ~What Happens Watch adults rediscover presence when an 800-pound horse, Beo, Mister, and/or Evita chooses to visit or Moonbeau and Journey, the resident Nigerian dwarf goats, curiously approach saying hello. "The connection people never realized they could have," one guest wrote. Nature and sentient beings invite families who arrive talking past each other to begin actually listening-especially when technology is forgotten. ~Location You’re in a sweet spot for exploring. It’s about 30 minutes to Santa Fe Plaza, 15 minutes to the quirky galleries of Madrid, and roughly an hour from Albuquerque. Ski Santa Fe is also about an hour away, making winter days easy to plan. The gated acre gives you real privacy, with the high desert stretching out in every direction—an ideal home base for art, food, nature, and mountain adventures. ~Enhance Your Stay If you’re craving a deeper kind of connection, you can book an equine-assisted learning session during your stay through Airbnb Experiences. It’s called “Connect with Horses for Calm and Confidence,” and it blends gentle horse interaction with HeartMath-based resilience techniques. You can also tailor a session to support a more personal retreat if you’re navigating transition or simply wanting clarity. Our horses meet people exactly where they are—no experience needed. It’s a beautiful option for individuals, couples, or families looking for something meaningful. Sometimes the most important discoveries happen where we finally stop doing long enough to remember what just being gives us. Guest access The property is yours to explore. Walk the grounds, discover quiet sitting areas tucked throughout the landscape, and connect with the horses and goats from outside their enclosures. Other things to note Lone Butte General Store and San Marcos Cafe and Feed are 2 miles from the casita. Lone Butte General Store sells food, spirits, wine and beer, gas and diesel. Just down the road, San Marcos Feed and Cafe serves hearty New Mexican and American breakfast and lunch (8am-2pm, Monday-Friday)—perfect for fueling morning adventures or lazy afternoon meals. BCBC (Beer Creek Brewing Company) is on the Turquoise Trail near the corner of Shenandoah Trail (CR 44) and across from Lone Butte General Store. They serve craft beers, sandwiches, pastas and pizza. Often times they have live music in the afternoons during summer and a beautiful outdoor eating area. Fifteen minutes south in Madrid, The Mineshaft restaurant becomes the heart of weekend evenings with live music. Check their menu online, but know that half the magic is the atmosphere itself. For morning rituals, Java Junction offers cappuccinos, teas, and grab-and-go pastries and burritos when you're ready to explore. Winter brings skiing at Hyde Park Ski Santa Fe or the Sandias—visit Ski New Mexico dot com and search either resort for current conditions and snow reports. During the summer, the road to Ski Santa Fe has many hiking trailheads. The casita holds carefully chosen books about Santa Fe's culture and history, plus a Day Hikes guide that reveals trails where locals go to find their own quiet communion with this ancient landscape.
