Description
Trickle Hill is a lovely cottage tucked away at the edge of our bush. You have your own little patio, and can go for adventurous walks straight from your living room ! We are close to Dandenong ranges, Yarra valley, Bunyip state park, and Puffing Billy. Just behind Avalon castle, so great for attending weddings. We welcome couples, solo adventurers and families. We are of course LGBTI+ friendly! Dogs are welcome- on conditions. The space The cottage is a converted shed, with three bedrooms, a lovely living area and a cosy wood heater. (no other heating) We have a sheltered outdoor area, where you can have a barbeque, or have a small fire in a firedish. ( be fire wise) The cottage is in the bush, so you can walk out and try to find our resident breeding pair of Lyrebirds, echidnas, wombats, wallabies and kangaroos or the deer that live in our 'back yard'. Or just roam, which shouldn't be too hard on 67 acres . We are close to massive areas of bush with open trails. Dogs are very welcome- no cats. Please read our dog conditions. As we live in the bush, we do our best to keep everything as 'green' as we can- so please don't use harsh chemicals. ** Our dogs love visitors- and our guest love them back. please don’t bring the new lamborghini- or warn us so we can lock them up . They WILL visit you, as they are loose at all times** Our aim is to give you a place of rest and enjoyment. We love to share our space as we love it here so much- and hope you love it too. As life is a project - don't expect 10* linen and luxury, state of the art gardens and clipped lawns, but a friendly welcoming atmosphere where you can be yourself and relax. Full fee disclosure: We charge you our cleaners fee, not a nightly addition so cleaning is the same price for short and long stays, not exponentially higher. Stays longer than 2 weeks will attract a double cleaning fee- born out of experience. The platform takes about 20%, and the additional gov short stay levy puts 8.5% on top. Guest access You will have access to the cottage, private patio, and the outdoor area, all the bush around the house and the area around our animals if you like. The area around our own house we keep private. We are both artists, and our studio's are close to the cottage, which might make some noise and may look messy ( material storage) , but we'll try to keep it at a minimum when guests are here. The upside is, you could learn something if interested :-) ( ask for workshops) This is a working (hobby) farm- with machinery, animals ( dogs, horses and chickens) You can interact with the animals if you talk to us about safety first, but the horse paddock itself is out of bounds. ( safe patting area provided with guidance of host) Our dogs are well socialised, very friendly and will visit you as they are always loose. Our puppy still has lots to learn :-) please reconsider if your dog is reactive- we are happy to introduce slowly, but can not lock our dogs up for yours. The house has 3 bedrooms- which makes it easy to each have your own bedroom. We cannot advertise for more than 3 adult guests due to council regulations. Other things to note Dogs: Our property is stock- fenced, our animals will stay in, but dogs are able to roam if they are not staying with you. Dogs are not to sleep on the beds, but can be on the couches You are expected to be in control of your dogs at all times, either on leash or under strict voice control- until proven safe with our animals. As we don't want damage, we prefer that your dog comes with you at all times, is in a crate if left alone, or you take full responsibility for any damage - and all costs growing out of it. ( We thankfully never have had to reinforce this) There is no secure yard to leave your dog during the day. We are a rural property with animals, and there are dams on the property, (not close to the cottage) so please keep an eye on children - we cannot take responsibility for your persons or animals. Living on a farm means that not everything is neat, safe, flat or person-proof. Some days there is actual work being done involving machinery. Coming here is entirely at your own risk. But- of course- if there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasurable, we will do our best to do so!
