Just 200 metres away from cliffs tumbling down to the Adriatic, you can smell the sea air while sitting in the verandas. Make memories with family or friends in the large turquoise pool and set up a table tennis tournament to see who comes out as champion. Inside, the casa’s décor brings about a certain Italian charm that gives it a lovely character and the yellow and blue palette creates a soft yet modern feel. In a raised position, the cliffs tumble down to the sea and you can enjoy remarkable Adriatic views. Take the short drive (3km) to the nearby town, where a whole host of different restaurants serve Puglian cuisine; whether it’s a bowl of orecchiette or fresh sea-food. Situated on the coast, the town has a lovely little marina where you can sit and admire the boats that are harboured. Beach lovers should visit the Marina di Pescoluse (14km). Thanks to its bright white sand and turquoise waters, it is also known as the Maldives of Italy. Feel the fine sand between your toes while sipping away at one of the juices that are freshly pressed at the beach café. Sunbeds are available to rent from a local vendor so you can soak up the sunshine in comfort. The crystal clear waters are home to a wide variety of fish, which you can spot while snorkelling. There are many other beautiful beaches on both the east and west coast of the Salento peninsula from long stretches of sandy beaches, lidos with sunbeds and umbrellas to stunning rocky coves with wonderful hiking opportunities nearby. There are also some boat trips you can take to the lovely caves along the coastline just below Villa delle Mannute. Take a day trip to Gallipoli (45km) a thriving island town full of loads of things to do. Visit the many great shops or grab a bargain at the market. The town city is full of historic sites that you can marvel at, such as Castello di Gallipoli, a fascinating 11th century military fortress located in the port and the Church of Saint Agatha, an ancient church in the center of the old town. Learn more about the city’s vibrant history at Museo Civico Emanuele Barba, which contains incredible archaeological artefacts. Tourists also love the city for its lively night life and the stretches of white sand a clear water known as Baia Verde.
