Here reigns the calm, the peace and friendliness of the inhabitants. The space ARRIVING Santo António do Baldio is 40 minutes from Évora. Perched on a hill with breathtaking views of the lake Alqueva - a huge expanse of water - the medieval village of Monsaraz, managed to maintain its characteristics over the centuries. A walk to Monsaraz is also a travel in time since this is a unique spot where you can still find the peace and serenity forgotten by the modern times. Amongst the heritage of Monsaraz are the Castle and its Medieval Tower, the old building of Antigos Paços da Audiência (XIV/XVI Century) and the Church of Our Lady of the Lake (XVI/XVII Century). Considered one of the oldest towns in Portugal, there are recorded evidence of settlements in Monsaraz since the pre-historic times, when it was originally a fortified fort. Since then, it was successively occupied until the period of creation of a national identity, when it was conquered back from the Moors in 1157.
