The island of Poel is one of the most beautiful islands in Mecklenburg and lies in the middle of the urban triangle Lübeck-Schwerin-Rostock. It is very easy to reach the Hanseatic city of Wismar via a heaped dam (15 km). At the western tip of Poel is Timmendorf Strand, about a kilometer from the present town, Timmendorf. Timmendorf Beach is Poel's most popular beach and offers with its lighthouse, pilot, small harbor and numerous water sports ideal conditions for a successful holiday in the Baltic Sea. In addition to the extensive meadows, fields, long sandy beaches and gastronomic hotspots, the island of Poel Meet many witnesses of the past.
