Visalam, a CGH Earth experience, is a heritage Chettiar mansion in the lovely precincts of Kanadukathan of Tamil Nadu. The palatial mansion features Chettinad’s 19th century art-deco interiors and you’ll be treated to its renowned fiery cuisine, colourful culture and rare facets. When you visit, you’ll be overwhelmed by its appetite for art, design and cuisine. The space Visalam was gifted by a merchant, Ramnathan Chettiar to his daughter Vishalakshi. On becoming a CGH Earth property, Visalam was meticulously restored while preserving its spaces and soul. Every little detail of the past lives on. Ornate doorways, marble platforms, woodworked ceilings and Athangudi-tiled floors. The rooms are large with high ceilings, gleaming floors and polished windows. The furniture is period in style, flawlessly crafted and made from the finest Burma teak. The floors and walls are inlaid with the famous Aathangudy tiles that are handmade even to this very day. In all, you will find yourself transported to a time and place with an earthiness that lends an old-world charm to the experience.
