Far View, Talkeetna Home with a View

Come enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains overlooking Fish Lake in a comfortable ranch style home. Two large decks to soak it in. All this only eight minutes from Talkeetna. This off-grid, solar powered home is the perfect place to unplug, relax and enjoy the constantly changing views that nature provides. There is no microwave on the premises and only one hair dryer as they are large energy "draws", but other than that, it feels like an "on grid" property. The space The house is a two hour drive from Anchorage on the Parks Highway. The three bedroom, four bathroom ranch style house with two deck provides ample space for a modest sized group. The home is perched on a bluff overlooking Birch Creek which flows into the lake. There are views from every bedroom and a trail down to the creek if you want a closer look. There is a handicap "friendly" ramp that allows easy access to two of the bedrooms, if needed. We have sprayed for mosquitos over the years which we feel has been a wise investment! Our intention is for a cozy get away for you to enjoy your family, friends, special occasion or just some good old fashioned "chill" time. The kitchen is equipped for you to whip up a fantastic meal and sit at the big table or make a last minute decision to drive north or south (8-10 minutes either way) for someone else to do the cooking and enjoy some local cuisine. Talkeetna's Main Street ends at the confluence of the free-flowing Talkeetna, Susitna, and Chulitna Rivers. "Na" is the native word for River. The Susitna River is home to all five species of Pacific salmon. Chinook (king), Sockeye (red), Coho (silver), Humpback (pink), and Chum (dog). The watershed is 24,500sq. miles roughly the combined size of NH, Vermont, and MA. No matter what, we are pretty sure you'll love the view. Guest access When you rent Far View, you will be using the whole house and both decks. There is a key pad for easy access on the main door. Once you're in you can go to the kitchen door and unlock that so you can pull up and unload what you might want to take into the kitchen. Other things to note The last mile of the dirt road that turns off of Birch Creek is bumpy, but very doable, especially, in regards to Alaska miles! The water quality is wonderful and cold. No need for bottled water! We have recycling containers for standard recycling. Fish Lake does not follow its namesake as there are not many fish to catch in the lake. Two bedrooms (the two queen bedrooms) are heated with "Toyo" heaters and the rest of the house is heated with the wood burning stove. We do have room darkening shades in every bedroom. There is a special "agreement" to sign once on premises in regards to using any watercraft that may be available to use.
