Rustic 18th century stone cottage with fireplace and parking

Description

This Early 19th-century Crowborough cottage blends timeless elegance with an unmistakable air of mystery. Original beams, shadowed corners, and a glowing log burner set the scene for candlelit evenings where the past feels very close. After dark, the house settles into its own rhythm soft creaks, shifting shadows, and the sense that centuries of stories still linger within its walls. The space Escape the noise of London and follow the winding roads into the Sussex countryside, where misty hills and quiet woodland surround the historic town of Crowborough, perched beside the beautiful Ashdown Forest. Step through the door of this delightfully quirky 19th-century sandstone cottage, where centuries-old beams, softly glowing lamps and a crackling log burner create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and inviting. This is a place where the past lingers gently in the walls and every corner seems to hold a story. After a day exploring the walking trails of Ashdown Forest famous for its sweeping views and connections to Winnie-the-Pooh return to the cottage and settle in for a cosy evening. Sink into the unapologetically retro sofa, far too bold for most homes but surprisingly comfortable, and enjoy a movie night on the 42” Smart TV with all major streaming apps. Or switch everything off, open a board game, and enjoy a glass of red by the fire as the house quietly settles around you. The rustic kitchen is fully equipped with the essentials oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, plates and cutlery ready for a slow breakfast or a relaxed evening meal. The tiled floor has seen decades of history and generations of guests, carrying the quiet character of another era. When it’s time to turn in, climb the charmingly narrow cottage staircase (mind your head if you’re over 6ft homes like this were built long before tall guests were considered). Upstairs the ceilings open up, the bathroom feels unexpectedly spacious, and the generous L-shaped bath offers a touch of indulgence after a day of countryside walks. The bedroom awaits with a cosy double bed and memory-foam mattress, promising a restful night’s sleep. Drift off surrounded by the quiet character of a house that has stood for well over a century or continue your Netflix marathon on the second 42” TV if sleep can wait. A stay that blends comfort, character, countryside calm… and just a touch of quiet mystery. Perfect for couples, walkers, and anyone looking for a peaceful Sussex escape near Ashdown Forest. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cottage. Nestled on a peaceful, secluded path set away from the road, the cottage is the perfect retreat for short or long term stays. There is no hot tub at this property. Other things to note Free on site parking in the car park at the front of the property for 1 car. Please note, this cottage is 200 years old and retains many of its original rustic features. While the bathroom has been updated with modern amenities, the rest of the property reflects its age and charm. This means you may encounter the occasional imperfection, which are part of its authentic, historic character. If you’re seeking pristine modernity, this might not be the right fit but if you love charm and quirk, you’ll feel right at home! Kindly bring your own logs for the burner :) Please don’t take logs from the neighbours. 2 large towels and 1 hand towel provided.
