This 1935 Colony Barn has been meticulously converted into a luxury home, on a 20 acre flower farm surrounded by spectacular mountains. The farm is close to the quaint downtown of Palmer. The master has soaring ceilings, a king bed, a sitting area, a flat-screen tv, a private deck, and a luxury bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. There is a gourmet kitchen, a wood stove, and a full bath downstairs. Out the back door and a few steps outside along the walkway brings you to our tiny house. This extra space provides a queen-sized bed for an additional sleeping area. Complete with a toasty heater and blackout curtains. A full-size washer and dryer are downstairs. Award-winning coffee is provided. In the winter snowshoes for two guests are provided. We are fifteen minutes to the Government Peak Recreation Area and 25 minutes to Hatcher Pass. Please note that the extra bedroom is in the Tiny House located a few steps out the backdoor of the Barn. It is not attached to the Barn and has its own seprate outdoor entrance. There is no bathroom in the Tiny House but the downstairs bathroom located in the Barn is only a few steps away. This is an active small scale Flower Farm so it is not unusual to see staff wandering the property, weeding the fields, or using equipment such as tractors, lawnmowers and our utility vehicles. We at all times do our best to respect the privacy of our guests, and try our best to stay well away from the barn during guests experiences with us - however a couple of our fields are in close proximity and we may or may not need to do work on those during your stay. If at any time this is inconvenient let me know! Sarah and Anna are available by phone. We also have a caretaker, Oksana, who lives in a separate dwelling on the farm who is available in the evenings and on weekends to solve problems onsite. A charming small town with a character unique in Alaska, Palmer is home to the Alaska State Fair, Musk Ox Farm,Reindeer Farm, Vagabond Blues Coffee Shop, Matanuska Brewing, Bleeding Heart Brewery, Arkose Brewery and the Palmer Ale House. Turkey Red is one of our favorite restaurants and specializes in serving Alaska Grown products. Farmer's Markets, Art Fairs and music fill the summer months and in winter people come from far and wide to experience Colony Christmas. A car is a necessity in Alaska, but the Matanuska Valley and Palmer have an amazing bike path system as well as world class mountain biking. Government Peak Recreation area has extensive groomed cross country skiing trails and Hatcher Pass is a short drive away with amazing hiking.
