Although centred between 2 small Mexican Fishing villages “Chelem and Chuburna puerto” the community here is a large expat base with many expats living and working here full time. The area is by no means a resort town therefore prices on local goods are still very cheap. The local village people are warm and welcoming and thankful for the work and many programs that the expats bring to this community and the benefits of tourism to the local businesses. The larger city of Progreso is only a 15 drive from here and home to a 6.5 KM pier which is a port of call for 2 major cruise lines that come in several times each week. There you will find endless shopping, restaurants, a beautiful beach, water sport rental, fishing charters, a malecon, grocery stores, a hospital and plenty more. The Yucatán is reported to be the safest state in Mexico. There are Tuk-Tuks and small Buses that run constantly between Chuburna, Chelem and It’s a 3 minute walk to the main road where you can catch the bus anywhere along the main road, just wave your hand. The buses are white 12-14 person van. Full size buses run from Progreso to Mérida many times each day. There is also a local Uber. The cleaning cost after check-out is included in the rental as well as pool maintainable twice a week if 7 night rental or more. Maid service and extra pool cleaning is available at an additional cost. Electricity cost beyond the solar generated power is at cost to the guest. Meter will be read at check-in and check-out.
