Description

Owned and styled by an artist couple with the dream of creating a place for others to escape, reflect, and feel reinvigorated by nature, this rustic lake house sits right on the banks of Summit Lake in the Catskill Mountains. This thoughtfully renovated 1940s cabin is perfect for couples seeking a romantic weekend, small families wanting a restorative break, writers and artists looking for inspiration, or anyone in need of a quiet, peaceful sanctuary. The space A retreat where tranquility and intentionality meet. Every aspect of Little Green Lake House has been designed to offer a restorative, memorable stay. Located on the edge of Summit Lake with beautiful views from every window, we’re in the Northern Catskills — 3 hours from NYC, 1.5 hours north of Woodstock, 45 minutes from Albany or Cooperstown, and under an hour from NY State’s best ski fields. PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT SEASONAL NOTES AND WINTER ACCESS INFORMATION BELOW. The house itself is fully renovated, thoughtfully furnished, and decorated with local photography, artwork, and collections from our travels over the years. One bedroom has a full-sized luxury bed with expansive views of the lake. The other is an endearing loft space with a queen mattress, and HDTV. Both are cabin sized rooms, charmingly decorated and designed to provide a boutique resting experience. Furnished with deluxe mattresses and linens, guests report having not slept so well in years! We have created an additional room for luggage and clothes with plenty of hanging space and a dresser, so resting space in the bedrooms is not compromised or cluttered. You will also have a dedicated workspace with a desk, and brand new laundry facilities to use. Our bathroom reno was centered around the porcelain sink designed and crafted by Mexican ceramicist Gorky Gonzalez. From the clawfoot tub to the heated floors and dimmable lights, you will lack nothing in order to relax and unwind. You will have at your disposal a propane fireplace, comfy couch, cozy recliners, original Farmiture coffee table, reading nooks, fast wifi, HD Roku streaming, a fully equipped kitchen with a decadent coffee and tea station, and ceramic pots and pans. The spacious garden area has outdoor amenities that include a large deck overlooking the lake with our custom-made fire pit, and Weber grill, a meditation garden, a hammock from heaven by the lake, a picnic table on the waters edge, two docks, a kayak and a rowboat for your enjoyment in the warmer months — wine on the lake at sunset comes highly recommended! In the winter, relax in the clawfoot tub and cozy up inside as the snow settles on the frozen lake. 📖 Read and write while overlooking the water. 🧘🏽 Practice yoga next to the fireplace. 🏔 Breathe the mountain air and watch the local wildlife, including our resident eagle! 🦅 ✋🏼 Relax, and let the world slow down. We really hope you enjoy Little Green Lake House as much as we do. Be sure to check out our online guidebook in the ‘Neighborhood Highlights’ section below, for all our local recommendations, things to do, dining, shopping and farm stands in the area! Guest access All guests booked through Airbnb have full access to the property, all equipment and amenities. Additional guests (friends of guests) need to be approved by the hosts in advance. Other things to note ⚖️ LIABILITY By booking, guests acknowledge that they are responsible for their own safety when using the private road, lake, dock, property and supplied equipment, and that the hosts and road owners are not liable for accidents, injuries, or property damage that may occur during their stay. SEASONAL NOTES Please read this section carefully before booking... ❄️ WINTER ACCESS INFORMATION Summit Lake Road is a private road that is plowed/blown after snow storms. But as storms can approach quickly and settle fast, the road can occasionally be icy, snow-packed, or uneven. During winter: - AWD or 4WD vehicles are mandatory. - Two-wheel drive or low-clearance vehicles are not permitted on the private road. - Day-time arrivals are recommended. Guests proceed at their own risk once on the private road. Severe weather can affect timing and accessibility. It is the guest’s responsibility to monitor weather prior to arrival and departure, and to avoid travel during active snowstorms. We are always on call if needed, but hosts and road owners cannot be responsible for delays, accidents, or vehicle issues caused by winter conditions. Power or internet outages are rare but possible during storms. Flashlights, lanterns, and snow shovels are provided. Please bring suitable winter clothing and drive and walk carefully when approaching the house. We love Little Green Lake House during the winter. It is cozy and magical. But if a winter adventure does not appeal to you, we would happily host you during the warmer months… 🌿 SPRING / SUMMER / FALL During the warmer months (May–October,) swimming in the lake and use of the rowboat and kayak are permitted at the guests’ own risk. The row boat ramp and dock will be set for the season—pending weather and water conditions. 🌊 Lake Use, Boats & Water Safety Guests are welcome to enjoy the lake using the rowboat and kayak provided. Please treat the lake and surrounding environment with care- this is a shared, private lake community. Life jackets must be worn at all times when using the boat or kayaks. Guests are responsible for ensuring their own safety and the safety of their group. Swimming is allowed, but there is no lifeguard on duty. Children must be supervised at all times. The lake bottom can be uneven and slippery. Please keep noise to respectful levels, especially in the early morning and evening. To keep the lake clean and safe, the lake water is usually treated once a year. A 24-hour no-swim period is recommended after treatment. We will let you know if your stay coincides with a water treatment day. The cabin is situated right on a lake behind acres of natural habitat, so please expect to encounter the animal and insect custodians of the area! Keeping doors and screens closed in summer is a must. Our cleaners are meticulous, but given the location, it is possible that before or during your stay, an insect — unaware of Airbnb protocol — may on very rare occasions find its own way into the house! Rest assured the place is exceptionally clean and well cared for, but if the thought of a rare insect sighting bothers you, it might be best to consider other locations! Thank you for reading!i
