The space Perfect for one or two couples, a luxurious solo trip, or a weekend getaway with a friend, the entire top-floor apartment is exclusively yours. Two generous queen bedrooms offer water views, a cosy sitting room with a custom-made window seat for watching the river drift by. There’s a deep green eat-in kitchenette, a reading room, and one glorious bathroom with underfloor heating, a walk-in shower, and a huge tub. Built in 1905 as a bank, The Bowmont still carries its heritage with quiet pride; polished floorboards, tall casement windows, and the occasional whisper of history, all balanced by modern comforts like central heating, double glazing, and fast Wi-Fi. The kitchen is equipped for simple self-catering, featuring a plug-in induction plate, a small fridge, and all the necessary essentials. You’ll find local tips in the house manual for where to shop, or better yet, where to eat out. The Bowmont sits on Franklin’s main road, once the town’s bustling artery and still thrums with the soft rumble of traffic — trucks passing through by day, the occasional over-enthusiastic ute by night. By evening, things settle into a quieter rhythm, and inside, thick walls, double glazing, and Belgian linen sheets keep it calm and cocooned. If you’re the kind of traveller who likes to sink into a good book, linger over breakfast, or watch wooden boats glide by with a glass of pinot, you’ll feel perfectly at home at The Bowmont. Guest access Self-check-in details are provided before arrival. Please Note: Our standard listed rate is for two guests sharing the same bedroom. If you are two guests wishing to use both bedrooms, there is an additional $50 per night charge. Please book for 3 guests to ensure Airbnb processes this correctly. We can accommodate a total of 4 guests at The Bowmont. We have off-street parking for two cars. There’s no outdoor space for guests, but on your doorstep is the expansive Huon River waterfront. There are picnic spots, walking tracks, and places to sit and ponder aplenty, so get out into it. Your hosts live on the ground floor at the rear of the large building and are available if you need them, but as a rule, they will leave you to enjoy your own company. Other things to note The Bowmont isn’t set up or suitable for pets or children under 15 years of age due to the delicate nature of the furnishings. The only access to the apartment is via the staircase, so please reconsider your stay if you have trouble with stairs. There is no TV, but plenty of good books to read and vintage games to play. The WIFI is fast if you want to bring your own device. We do have a cat who doesn't have access to the space, just to note, if you have a hypersensitive allergy.
