Kosbys Cottage, Tongariro

Kosbys Cottage, Tongariro provides excellent value for money, offering ample space for families (children over 2 years old) or small groups of friends. A snug retreat during winter, thanks to a very efficient wood-burner (there is no heat pump). The spacious couch is perfect for unwinding, while the well-equipped kitchen, resembling that of a caterer’s, includes an espresso machine and opens out onto a charming patio area with a barbecue, herb garden, and stunning vistas. The space Kosbys Cottage is a two bedroom, one bathroom (with separate toilet) 1911 house which has been fully restored from the piles up. Our wee cottage will always be a work in progress given it’s age, but we endeavour to make it as comfortable as possible winter or summer. We are very passionate about the Central Plateau and all the area has to offer so we want to share it with as many as possible in a luxurious and very comfortable accommodation option. Even as a 'get-away' this unique area offers an enviable range of activities and adventures completed with wonderful shops and cafes which will satisfy the most discerning. Excellent mountain biking options with down hills to the Ruatiti Domain, the wonderfully historic Old Coach Road or advanced forest trails. Easy access for the famed Tongariro Crossing walk, winter snow sports on Mt Ruapehu or the many, many other offerings in the Tongariro World Heritage National Park - a must is the Waitonga Falls walk. There is kayaking on the beautiful Whanganui River, trout-fishing - with local rivers boasting some of the best fishing in NZ and only 35 mins drive from the Tongariro River and Lake Taupo. Golfing is also a must at the beautiful Waimarino 18 hole Golf Course suitable for all ages, easy walking and spectacular views. Guest access The whole cottage is yours for the duration of your stay; this also includes all the patio and garden area to the hedge & gate at the end of the lawn. Other things to note It is important to note please that Kosbys Cottage, Tongariro is not fenced and has an open council drain at the end of the property, so not suitable for small children.
