Description
If out of the ordinary is what you seek, then you have found what will truly prove to top the list of your most unique travel experiences. A fully functional potter's studio, seasonally transformed to a high end, cozy, comfy, and private adult retreat when the wheel is not turning and the kiln is cold. Your "casita" is nestled in rural WNY but a stone's throw from all there is to see and do in the area. Relax after a long day about town; take a swim, read a book, or just chill by the fireplace. The space The studio is located on a one-acre piece of property situated behind the main home. A short walk from parking space around the side of the main house through the backyard, and around the inground pool brings you to your door. Entrance to the studio and living space within is completely private throughout the duration of your stay. The studio boasts approximately 700 square feet of living area, ample space to "stretch out and relax" during your stay. The building was constructed years after the main home, just recently having been completed. You’ll be met with “new and bright”. Large transomed windows throughout offer a brightly lit space with 360 views of the local flora and fauna, sliding patio doors look out onto the inground pool, and a vaulted ceiling in the living/sleeping quarters provides an open, light, and airy feel to the space. All windows are fitted with custom made blinds that are light filtering yet afford complete privacy when drawn. A fully functioning pottery studio when not being utilized to host guests, the interior vibe is definitely industrial. The studio houses three distinct and separate areas. There are the main living/sleeping quarters, a kitchen, and a full bathroom. Ideal for two. It is a studio, so the main living/sleeping quarters accommodate both functions. This area likewise houses “still” pottery equipment that while not in use, will in no way encroach upon your comfort. By day, there is a sofa that reasonably seats three people along with two coffee tables. By night, the sofa converts to a full-sized queen sleeper. I will note that no expense or product research was spared when obtaining this vital component of your stay. My goal was to provide my guests a totally comfortable sleep experience. The sleep-sofa is a Luonto product, handmade in Finland by highly skilled furniture makers. A truly unique design, their dual motion technology allows you to lift and pull the bed outward in one motion. There are no metal bars beneath the cushions to agitate you throughout the night. It’s as comfortable as the bed in my home! Guests are required to place bed linens (provided) on the sleep-sofa mattress prior to retiring. There is a brand new 55-inch television mounted on the wall with “real” cable service providing full access to live and on demand viewing of all major network channels. The television operates on the Roku platform. Installed apps also allow use of your personal paid streaming service subscriptions. Finally, there is a wonderfully romantic cast iron stove, perfect for those cool nights or just for a bit of added ambiance. During cooler months, the stove is the main heat source and comfortably heats all rooms within the studio. The kitchen is compact but functional. While not a “chef’s kitchen”, there are sufficient appliances and sundries to accommodate simple meal prep for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There is no range. There is a full-sized refrigerator, a full-sized microwave, and an outdoor Weber grill (seasonal use). No need to worry about running out of propane, the grill fuel supply is continuous natural gas. There are several small appliances to make toast, egg bites, or pop an evening bowl of popcorn. There is a Keurig specialty coffee maker to brew a cappuccino, latte, espresso, or just a simple cup of coffee or tea (coffee, tea, cider, cocoa, and “add-ins” provided). For dining, there is a bistro table and chairs. Perfect for two. The bathroom is fully functional with a shower, sink, and toilet. There is no bathtub. Bed linens and towels (shower and pool) are stored in the linen closet. A luggage rack and wall hooks are available for clothing storage. The studio is not centrally air-conditioned. However, there is a window air conditioning unit for exceptionally hot days. When AC is not needed, opening the screened windows, kitchen, and patio doors along with a ceiling mounted fan in the living/sleep quarters provides a wonderful cross breeze and cooling for guest comfort. There is a beautiful, large, heated inground pool available for guest use throughout your stay. A brand new liner was recently installed in July 2025. Availability is mid-May through mid-September, weather permitting. When open, guest use is permitted from 6AM until 10PM. All pool floats and patio furnishings are available for guest use throughout their stay. Pool waters are lighted at night. The pool is maintained with crystal clarity throughout the season. It is a saltwater filtration system, so no exposure to harsh chlorination. Depth is from 3.5 to 7 feet. Use is exclusively at your own risk. There’s an extensive raised veggie, flower, and herb garden outside of the studio along with pear, apple, and cherry trees. In season items may be made available upon request. Wi-Fi service is available and complimentary to guests throughout their stay. User ID and Password are provided upon check-in. Off street parking is available at no charge for one vehicle throughout your stay. There is a Guest Information Book for your convenience during your stay. There is also a Guest Comment Book (Words from the Heart) for your feedback about your overall experience. I would likewise appreciate a public review via the AirBNB platform. I sincerely appreciate the time taken to leave your comments both for future guests and to improve upon my overall service as a host. I just recently completed a quest to golf in all 50 states with the culmination of my journey being golfing on the solstice at midnight in Alaska! Needless to say, I've undertaken some extensive travel and have frequented a number of Airbnb locations. Based on my experiences, I aim to provide you with accommodations that would "meet my own standards" having the conveniences, cleanliness, and amenities of a well cared for travel space. Being an Airbnb host is not a new experience for me. I just recently sold a property that I hosted via Airbnb for 3 ½ + years. During that period, I maintained Superhost status throughout my tenure. While this being a wholly different and more personal experience, my intentions are to do the same with my “Labor of Love Artist’s Retreat”. I take my job as an Airbnb host quite seriously and my goal is for you to have a nothing less than unique and exceptional experience during your travels. Guest access Guests must make a very short walk through the side yard across a paved sidewalk to reach the studio entrance. Guests with difficulty walking should take this into consideration. Access to the studio is via self check-in using a key. There is a specialized lock and unlock procedure listed in the check-in procedures that must be followed to properly operate the lock mechanism both outside and inside the door. The entrance and interior of the studio are totally separate and private from the main house for guests throughout their stay. However, the yard and pool are shared space with myself, family, and friends. Other things to note The property sinks, showers, and toilets function via a septic system. Consequently, nothing other than the septic safe toilet tissue provided should be deposited in the toilet when used. Please dispose of all other personal hygiene products in the trash receptacles provided. There are exterior security cameras located throughout the grounds of the property to maintain the safety and security of all guests. There are no interior security cameras. I own a small 15-pound West Highland Terrier named Stella. She has an electronic collar that keeps her away from the studio perimeter. However, she does have a run of the remainder of the yard. She is extremely friendly and can be interacted with should you choose to do so. However, if you are averse to dogs, then my Airbnb is likely not the appropriate choice for your travels. Our most recent family addition is my cat, Shodo. He stays indoors, but most likely will "say hello" through one of the main house windows as you pass through the yard. I have various contactors that maintain the lawn and pool at any given time during the week and may be present for short periods during your stay. At check-out, please follow the check-out procedures listed in the Guest Information Book located in the studio when you arrive.
