This charming, sleepy, preserved town has slipped right from the faded pages of a Fannie Flagg novel (Red Bird Christmas, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.) Camellia Cove is a southern safe haven; a charming, quiet, restful, renovated historic home with river views, river access, and space for boat parking. This ambrosial coastal home with a balcony, firepit with Adirondack chairs, hot tub, covered patio, and gas grill is surrounded by nature. Jesses’s is an award-winning local restaurant and a community staple. The building has a history going back 75 years, first opening as Moore Bros Store in 1922 Camellia Cove is a true writers or readers retreat, a picturesque romantic escape for couples, a serene respite for ladies' getaways, a paradise for boating, fishing and watersport enthusiasts, a wonderland for nature lovers, heaven for outdoorsy folks and fitness enthusiasts who enjoy jogging, paddleboarding, kayaking, etc., and a dream vacation destination for families and children. This will make it easier for you to locate us! What recent guests are saying: "Camellia Cove has been my safe place...I feel a deep calling to maintain my connection to this place... My days started with coffee by the fire & led to long walks by the river & along Oak street... I'm grateful for my time to reflect, to write, & to breathe." "Camellia Cove stole my heart...is stocked with everything....all you need to bring are your clothes!!!" "It’s the most relaxing and peaceful cottage I have ever stayed in. All the amenities and little added touches were just spot on." Living: The tranquil, southern style living room has soft pastels and warm neutral hues. There are two upholstered armchairs just the color of sun-warmed sand, an ice blue sofa (with a pull-out for overflow) and elegant coffee table, all nicely arranged around a custom-built fireplace cabinet with a herringbone Dimplex firebox with mood/color setting. The ceilings are pine tongue-in-groove, and the floors are ceramic plank tile adorned with warm, cozy cottage style rugs. The timeless charm of coastal southern life is conveyed in the small touches and design details of this living space. The owners of Camellia Cove collaborated with Shawn Brazzell Designs to complete the interior design of this home. Note the bouquet of gleaming magnolia leaves; the wreath of olive and bay laurel, the vase of coastal grasses on the mantle, the assortment of richly textured throw blankets, and vibrant pillows adorning the sofa. No detail of decor or hospitality has been overlooked. This 3BR/2BA, 1,600 square foot, 2-story home was built in 1960. Original red brick surrounds were discovered during an extensive renovation completed in 2020 and were left to retain the character of the original structure. These exposed brick living room walls impart a rustic, farmhouse feel, blending the rich, historic past and present of Camellia Cove! The exposed bricks pay homage to the town’s early history; in the early 1800’s, there was a brick factory in Magnolia Springs that made the brick for Fort Morgan. Kitchen/Dining: The bright, airy, open-concept design of the kitchen/living/dining space makes entertaining a breeze at Camellia Cove! A chef is never isolated from the social dynamic. The stylish, fully equipped chef’s kitchen has gray wood cabinets, gorgeous marble countertops and state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances including a French door fridge/freezer with ice maker, electric range, oven, microwave, dishwasher and large single basin sink. There’s a coffee station, milk frother, Cuisinart air fryer/toaster oven, blender, toaster, knife block, spice rack, etc. Open shelving along the back kitchen wall beautifully displays dishware, water glasses and coffee mugs. The dining area features a large, wooden, farmhouse style table with upholstered seating for six. Gather your group for family-style southern meals! Again, the charm of this open design kitchen and dining area is in the thoughtful details; a display of vintage glass bottles, a vase of fresh camellia blossoms, a bowl of ripe citrus fruit. The details change seasonally of course, but they are always delightfully evocative! Bedrooms/Baths: Primary King Suite (Bedroom #1): There is one king bedroom with a full ensuite bath on the main level (1st floor.) This bright, coastal-style bedroom has vaulted, pine tongue and groove ceilings, a ceiling fan and a plush botanical aesthetic with subtle pastel hues of pink and blue. The bed is an upholstered One Kings Lane Hedren Stripe in blue and white. A soft, pale pink rug adds a sweet, elegant touch to the bedroom space. This primary bedroom (bedroom #1) has a walk-in closet, a Coastal Living Armoire and a SmartTV. The ensuite bathroom has a clawfoot tub (with handheld shower, not full shower). Indulge here; rejuvenate your spirit with a relaxing scented bubble bath! Queen Bedroom #2: Upstairs (2nd floor) are two queen bedrooms. Bedroom #2 is decorated in earthy, boho, coastal style and has a closet, ceiling fan, SmartTV, and direct access to a balcony with water views. This balcony sitting area is a highlight of the home! Relax here with a southern gothic novel, or savor sultry sunrise/sunset vistas. There are two additional seating areas that add style and comfort to this spacious room, one with a plush chaise lounge for reading or catching an afternoon nap! Queen Bedroom #3: Bedroom #3 has a wrought iron queen bed and soothing coastal hues of soft blue, cobalt blue and white, with splashes of emerald green. Original coastal art adorns this tranquil room. Bedroom #3 has inviting bedding that is sure to delight in tie-dyed and striped patterns. A closet, ceiling fan, SmartTV and an enclosed loft area with a work desk which doubles as a dressing/make-up vanity completes this beautiful space. This work desk area has window views of the river and stair landing. Bedrooms #2 and #3 share access to a spa-like full bathroom with a large glass-door shower with custom tile work, and a single-sink granite vanity. There’s an elegant full-length mirror in the upstairs hallway. The bedrooms and baths have original art, designer details, luggage racks, seating, area lamps, linen duvets, plush pillows and Cariloha bamboo linens. There are sound machines in every bedroom and an air purifier in the main bedroom. Queen Sleeper Sofa: There’s a queen size sleeper sofa, with a memory foam mattress in the living room to enjoy late-night movies by the fireplace! Just off the kitchen is a laundry room with a front-load washer and dryer, because the laundry never sleeps, even when you’re on vacation. Steps from the covered patio you will find a wonderful spa/hot tub surrounded by beautiful views encased by romantic string lights set to turn on at dusk each evening!
