This cute white cottage with a thatched roof is like from a fairy tale book! As if you really live in authentic Giethoorn. (North) The boats can be rented from the neighbors and the beautiful bridges can be found only a 6-minute walk away. This is where Giethoorn originated, and the oldest houses along the path are located here. No crowds of tourists. (They’re in Giethoorn Zuid.) Here, you can still enjoy the wonderful tranquility and the beauty of the old village of Giethoorn. Unfortunately not suitable for infants/children from 0 to 8. The space Welcome to Giethoorn-Inn – a living painting in the original Giethoorn-Noord ❤️ Imagine: a white farmhouse with a thatched roof. “A heavenly place,” “a fairy tale to live in.” These are words that guests use over and over again. Not just a fully equipped vacation home, but a place where it feels like you’re really living in Giethoorn for a while. With a private fenced garden and a parking space in front of or inside your garden fence – something that is quite rare in Giethoorn. This authentic little cottage has been made more spacious by the addition of a conservatory, which creates a bright, comfortable living space. The ceilings still have the authentic height of the past, as does the low front door. The kitchen, featuring a distinctive Aga cooker, is open to the living room, creating a seamless, connected space. Inside, you'll find an atmospheric mix of mahogany antiques and vintage ’60s chairs, including a lovely rocking chair. Everything is on the ground floor. Through the living room you step into the upstairs room, now furnished as a master bedroom with a lovely box spring. The old bedstead has been transformed into a wardrobe. Do you prefer to sleep separately? Then there is the small, cozy rose room with a single bed under the sloping wicker roof. The bathroom, with a nostalgic ambiance, has recently been completely renovated and offers a spacious shower, sink, and toilet for your exclusive use. The golden yellow thatched roof, the creaking of the wooden floor, the enchanting charm of the location, the soft patter of rain on the terrace roof—this cottage exudes a sense of security and love. You will find us in Giethoorn-Noord, where Giethoorn once arose. The front boats are ready with our neighbors. A 6-minute walk away, you'll find the start of the famous little bridges over the small canals, where the most beautiful and oldest farmhouses are located and no cars can go. Exactly what makes Giethoorn so famous. With us in the street you will also find three restaurants and a bus stop, all within a few minutes walk. You might be wondering why it's so quiet here. Have you seen videos on YouTube of boats that sail over each other, and bridges full of tourists? I will share a secret with you. What many people don't know is that Giethoorn was once split into two when Giethoorn-Midden was beaten away by a flood. Since then, Google Maps has been directing buses full of tourists to Giethoorn-Zuid, where the museums, outdoor cafés, and bustling tourist activity are in full swing. For example, this original part in Giethoorn Noord remained a well-kept secret – and we like to keep it that way. Sssst... 🤫 This is where Giethoorn was founded and given its name. Everything that makes Giethoorn famous is present here; her bridges, her canals and her unique atmosphere.❤️In addition, something special; her peace and quiet. Through the beautiful natural surroundings, you sail into the bustling tourist area. Then, in peace, you can return, along the old canals, to your idyllic cottage. Greetings from Giethoorn, Kier-Jan and Els Jonkheer Guest access 🔑 Check-in information & reception The standard check in time is at 4pm. Would you like to arrive earlier? That’s usually not a problem, as long as we know in time. We coordinate our work and personal lives around the expected arrival time and therefore are not always available at the last minute. However, with proper coordination, a lot is possible, and we are happy to work with you to find a solution. Space 🏡 access As a guest, you will have access to the full white farmhouse, including the entrance and your own private garden. On the side is another round garden with a small orchard, adjacent to the massage practice of Els. You are also welcome to use it there when there are no customers in the salon. The garden is pleasantly green, with fruit trees, flowers, and shrubs. In addition, there are a few simple outdoor seating areas that can be moved. The garden faces due south, which is why there is an umbrella provided. The gate can be completely open, so you can park your car (possibly with bicycles) safely behind the gate on the driveway. There is an open bike shed where you can store your bikes dry and charge the batteries. ⚠️ Please note: charging batteries is not allowed in the cottage itself, due to fire safety. There is an electric cord in the bicycle shed for this. (Massage guests enter the property through the same garden fence and then go directly through the round garden to the practice area). Other things to note 🔥 Important notes 🧯 Our fire insurance does not allow an open flames! Candles, fire pits or BBQs are not allowed inside and outside – this is a thatched farm. At the insurance request, we also removed our microwave. 🚭 No smoking in or around the cottage! Smoking is only allowed by the garden fence or the bicycle shed, not by the roof! 🙅‍♀️ No parties or group visits Our B&B is a great place to relax, enjoy the cottage and the charm of Giethoorn. We focus on stays for two or three guests who want to enjoy a quiet time here. Parties, birthdays, or group places are not included. Only guests who are officially checked in are welcome on the premises. Would you like to invite someone for a cup of coffee or a brief meeting? No problem – if you coordinate with us. 🍽️ Friendly food. In our cottage it is not allowed to use fondue sets, gourmet sets, stone grills, frying pans or other intensive cooking appliances that cause a lot of smoke or grease. In the cottage, there is an electric cooktop, a cheese fondue pot, a small oven, and an Air Fryer that you are welcome to use. 🧊 Small surprise in the freezer. Didn't have time to shop for groceries or would you rather not leave the door? In the freezer is usually something small for the hungry guest. Some meals are priced, and what doesn't have a euro price, you can eat. 🏡 This is a characterful old farmhouse. Simple, complete, romantic and clean . But not a modern luxury cottage with a bathtub and fancy garden loungers. Our AGA stove is turned off, but along with a two-burner cooktop, everything is provided. 🏡Our charming cottage has authentic dimensions. So, old-fashioned low ceilings and small rooms compared to our modern standards. That's exactly her charm.❤️ We are happy to welcome guests who love these small farmhouses where the people of Giethoorn used to live. Our cottage from 1900 has been renovated and is maintained by us with care and passion. This year, air conditioning was installed, and thanks to a special coating, the windows block out the bright sun. 🥖❌ No breakfast available. Breakfast is no longer served in our B&B. We noticed that it was no longer possible to combine this. Still, we have chosen to continue to rent out the cottage with love, so that guests can still enjoy it here. The simple kitchen is well equipped to make your own breakfast. 🟠!👶🧒 Unfortunately, it is not possible to welcome babies and young children (0 to 8 years) in our B&B. We understand that this can be disappointing for some guests. Nevertheless, we have consciously chosen this, because both the cottage and the immediate vicinity are not furnished for young children. 🦽✴️ Our house is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs or rollators.
