Historic Farm House 4 Minutes from Belleayre

Go back in time and enjoy this massive home with a large gathering of family and friends. Recently renovated historic boarding house previously known as the “Villa Heidenfeld”. Located 2 miles/5 minutes from Belleayre Mountain. 30 minutes to Hunter, 25 minutes to Plattekill Mountain. Dogs are allowed and are limited to 2. Please register when reserving. The space We have recently renovated this 136 year old house previously known as the “Villa Heidenfeld” and recently re-named her “Highland House”. This home is one of the last surviving boarding homes that were utilized in the early 1900s when Fleischmanns drew thousands of summer visitors. We have tried to keep it true to what it might have been like to stay here in the late 1800s with a modern face lift to the bathrooms. The rooms are as they were over a 100 years ago (with some of the original furnishings). We kept the home very simple. This home was built for large families and gatherings. The wrap around porch is one of our favorite places to sit and enjoy our time. With almost a 180 degree view of the property. Or just relax around the large fire pit. If you pay attention you will spot our local eagle who usually cruises over the running creek in front of the house in the mornings and around dusk. And is usually spotted soaking up the sun in one of the trees close by. The home is located on over 6 acres. Only minutes to town, Rt 28 and 4 minutes to Belleayre Ski Mountain. We have a lovely wood burning stove in the living room and a pellet stove in the dining room. The first floor has a large living room, large kitchen, dining room, laundry room and pool room. Second floor has 4 large bedrooms with 10’ ceilings. Two rooms have king beds, one room has a queen with twin bunk beds and one has a queen bed. The 3rd floor has 3 bedrooms. 1 with a full bed, 1 with a twin bed and 1 with 2 twin beds. ***This home is located in the Catskill mountains. There are critters and wild animals including deer, fox(s) and black bears, etc. ***Lady bugs love big houses in the mountains in the winter. We do everything possible to keep them out but they do try to get in to enjoy the warmth. There is no air conditioning but the house stays very cool. There is no dishwasher. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. I can say that if you are looking for an evening at the Waldorf, this might not be for you. But if you want to enjoy your stay in this massive unique home , rich in history, with some creaky floors and some minor imperfections, you will not be disappointed. With 7 bedrooms, this is the perfect place to gather with a large group of friends and family for an amazing time skiing, hiking, shopping and/or just “hanging” around. There is a play room with pool table and toys and board games. Mud room has ski racks to store your gear. The house will be clean with plenty of fresh, clean linens and towels. The kitchen is well stocked. And we have a slow cooker. Dogs are allowed and are limited to 2. The dogs are not permitted on the furniture or beds. For any rentals for more than 1 week, the renter is responsible for weekly cleanings through my cleaning service.
