A cozy, clean, chic and walkable one bedroom apartment, located on a quiet dead end street in the down-to-earth, scenic bayside community of Point Richmond. A perfect flat for remote workers, students, or others exploring the Bay Area with easy access to San Francisco (via Ferry, BART, or driving), Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Berkeley, UC Berkeley, and much more. Groceries and restaurants within a few blocks walking distance. Trails, beaches and 360 bay views start right outside the front door. The space The ~600 sq ft (55 sqm) apartment / guest unit is located on the lower level of a single family home. There is a living room with a compact futon that folds flat (5.9ft/179cm length when flat), full kitchen (with 2-person bistro table as the dining table), large bathroom with walk-in shower, large bedroom with kingsize bed and working station (desk/chair/monitor), and a large walk-in closet (closet ceiling height shorter than standard, ~7 ft, 213 cm) so you can easily store all your stuff out of the way. There are people living above the unit (and three rambunctious animals), so you may hear footsteps, pets wrestling and chasing each other, muffled conversations, and plumbing / water flowing here and there. There is also some train and freeway noise from the city below, though not too noticeable in the bedroom. Quiet hours are between 10am and 8am. There is no AC but it’s not really needed, especially in the lower unit. Being so close to the water provides a natural cooling effect with the sea breeze. There are about 5 steps on the way down to the apartment. There is a fully equipped kitchen for cooking and baking. We want you to be able to cook as if you were at home, so we are happy to equip the kitchen with anything reasonable that we missed. The stove top is induction - so that can take some getting used to if you haven’t used one before. The microwave is lower power than standard due to its smaller size, and will take slightly longer to heat things up. Key Kitchen items (non exhaustive): Dutch oven French press Tea/water kettle Blender Immersion blender 5-speed hand mixer and mixing bowls Full baking set (sheets, cake pans, muffin pans) Cast iron skillet Good selection of pots and pans Air Fryer Knives set Plenty of Tupperware and Glass storage containers Kids bowls, plates, cups and plastic silverware Guest access Access to the apartment is via a shared fenced-in backyard + covered patio, so you may see the host here and there when exiting and entering the unit. There are two cats and a small dog that live in the main house and they wander the enclosed backyard. Please ensure the gate to the backyard is closed and securely latched at all times so that they do not get out. The wind may blow it open if it’s not securely latched. The dog is timid around new people so may bark or even growl at first but she’s harmless and you can ignore her. Well behaved pets are welcome with an additional fee. All pets must be friendly and pose no threats to the resident cats nor others on the property. Pets should not be left unsupervised in the apartment. Other things to note Laundry use in the main house available upon coordination with host (it doubles as our work from home office). There is plenty of street parking. The street is narrower than most, please park as close to curb as possible so garbage and recycling crews can pass. Please see the “Where You’ll Be” and “Getting Around” sections below the map for detailed info on the area and how to get around but I will include a summary here: Downtown Point Richmond is walkable from the house with restaurants, bars and groceries. Having a car is best for exploring the rest of the bay, but many guests have gotten by without a car. Both the Ferry (free parking) and Bart ($3/day) are a short drive from the house (7-10min, 2.5 miles). If you don’t have a car, they are a quick and inexpensive Uber / Lyft ride from house or there is also a bus that takes you to BART from a stop a few blocks from the house. Feel free to reach out with more questions!
