Description
Country setting with an urban edge in this family and friends suited property. Open plan living in a stunning surrounding and views of Ullswater lakeshore will make this a favourite for many. A plethora of wonderful Lakeland walks straight from your accommodation, we are situated on the southern shores of lake Ullswater and boast a private lakeshore. Set on our Estate with a selection of cabins and stone built buildings. Only a ten minute walk from Glenridding. The space We're a bit different - here's why! When you stay you get access to our special estate, from private lakeshore for you to swim and paddle from to magical walks through our private riverside woodland. Since 1959, every penny of profit has gone directly to charity & conservation, so when you stay with us, you're on a "holiday that helps". Whether through our work with habitats and environmental projects here at the foot of Helvellyn and head of Ullswater, or through our community projects throughout the country... You can enjoy the fells knowing that you're protecting them, and sleep well knowing you've helped someone else do the same. Guest access We offer exclusive access to our guests in the spaces below; Firepit & Picnic area At the heart of our site is a lovely picnic area. We often get deer and squirrels through here and lots of different birds. There is a firepit for all guests to use and some rustic goals for a little kick-around. Lakeshore Especially great in the busy months, when the Lake District feels full and we have our own quiet and special lake-shore for you to enjoy. Guests are known to paddle, swim, paddleboard, fish and even have their breakfast down at our lakeshore. "Waterfall wood" walk Originally a Victorian walk attached to the Hall, our special woodland is home to some seriously large specimen trees, red squirrels and other wildlife. The walk follows our river (yep that's ours) upstream until you find yourself facing one of the best views up Grisedale valley. Great for the daily dog-walk or pottering with the family. Dairy Field walk Just above our woodland there's our secret trail, which takes you up away from the public through our conservation farmland. The track is a lovely way to start an amble up to Lanty's Tarn. Lanty's Tarn Originally used for us to create ice (before fridges) we now care for this beautiful Tarn (like a tiny lake) to ensure we're doing our best for wildlife and the environment. We've just planted a few thousand trees here and have another £30,000 project to rebuild the Dam here in the coming year.
