Dune Shack, nostalgic Tasmanian shack with private beach access & hot stone sauna. Tucked behind the dune and sheltered by gums, Dune Shack provides a paradise for those wanting to escape the everyday and relax to the sound of the sea. An ideal base to access some of Tasmania’s iconic bushwalks and beaches, Port Arthur, Three Capes Walk, Tasman Island Pennicott Cruise & McHenry Distillery The space Dune Shack is a traditional Tasmanian fibro shack built in 1970. Positioned on a large parcel of flat ground scattered with eucalypt trees, the property has private access to 5.5kms of pristine beach - you can run barefoot from the shack to the water in seconds. Interiors are colourful, comfortable, and ideal for lazing around in. Light the beautiful Nectre fireplace, toast marshmallows (included), peruse the wide variety of books & board games and sip on Love Tea. If you're feeling adventurous, grab the binoculars and head to the dune where you will find a seat perfect for looking out to sea - the bay is frequented by dolphins, seals, eagle rays and at certain times of year, whales. Our newly renovated kitchen is well equipped, and the pantry stocked with all the essentials plus a few little extras. As well as the woodfire, the shack is also heated by a heat pump. Both bedrooms have electric blankets, fan heaters and extra blankets for those chilly nights. Our large private garden provides a beautiful place to relax, and includes custom built private hot stone sauna, fire-pit, hammock, outdoor kitchen area with BBQ, and two outdoor showers. Plenty of firewood is supplied for guests to use. You will find a picnic set with blanket for days or evenings at the beach, two yoga mats in case you feel up to a little stretch out in the garden or at the beach, Finska and bocce. Please note that there is no fence between the garden and dune/ beach. The shack is accessed via an internal driveway that is shared with our neighbours - there is plenty of parking on our property but if you are considering bringing a boat please let us know. Other things to note Children and infants are very welcome at our shack but we do not supply cots or high chairs, if travelling with little ones please bring these items with you. We love to cater to pets but please note that there is no fence between the garden and the beach. Please also pick up after your pets. Doggy bags provided. During the summer months (1st December - 31st March) dogs must be on leash between 10am - 4pm. Outside of these times dogs are allowed off leash but must be under effective control.
