Description

A pavilion style home set on 130 stunning acres in a hidden valley. 12 mins to pristine beaches and just up the highway from Byron Bay. 15 mins to Brunswick Heads and just over 20 mins to Mullum. FarmHaus is completely-off-grid, and super comfortable...with a rustic/vintage vibe. The house comfortably sleeps 6 so it's perfect for families and groups. It's an incredibly restful and magical place, with happy herds and flocks running free. The space All the animals can't wait to welcome you to The Owl & The PussyCat Farm Animal Sanctuary. Come and settle-in to life at the Sanctuary in off-grid comfort. Please note: 100% of your booking amount (less running costs like gas/cleaning) goes directly to supporting the rescue animals. FarmHaus has expansive views across our coastal valley. The 2 generous buildings that form the home are connected by decks creating a gorgeous space for breakfast or an evening event by fairy light. The house is fully equipped with everything you need for a blissful stay... plenty of soft, comfy beds (extra beds are available on request); crisp bedding and fluffy towels; clean, modern bathroom; fully equipped kitchen; cute fireplace; indoor and outdoor dining. The main bedroom includes a king size bed with box cotton mosquito net, vintage armchair, and built-in wardrobe (porta-cot and inner spring floor mattress also available). Lie in bed and enjoy the spectacular views up the vast valley. The bi-fold doors open up to capture the sea breeze, which carries the sounds of our rescue herds. The bathroom includes a deep, full-sized bath, separate shower, toilet and basin. We provide all your essentials including hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. And 3 windows let in lots of light and frame the stunning views. The main building is very spacious and includes a very comfortable queen size and single bed presented as daybeds, a couple of vintage armchairs, a cute fireplace to keep you cozy on long winter nights, a traditional farmhouse kitchen featuring a large European gas stove, a big old dining table that seats 8+, and kitchen staples including tea & coffee, salt & pepper, oils, sauces, flour etc. It's the perfect place for families, or for groups of friends wanting to get away from it all. This truly is a magical place. You feel like you're a million miles away...the stars are amazing!! Yet the property is only 10 minutes to the Pacific Highway. Enjoy the peace and quiet, and of course everything that a working rescue sanctuary has to offer...horses, calves, cows, chickens, ducks and more. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, and the 130 acre property - perfect for bush walks up to the ocean view. Although the rescue animals’ caretaker's house is obviously not available for guest use and we ask that you please respect their privacy. Other things to note Our caretaker may be living onsite during your stay. The houses are quite close together...although they are VERY private and are separated by a large fence. We are passionate about the environment and the entire sanctuary is completely off-the-grid. As such, we do ask that you please be mindful of excessive water or power usage. Even though the house is totally self-sufficient, it functions as a normal house and has all the conveniences of home. But please note that depending on your carrier, mobile reception can be a bit sketchy. Although we do have excellent Internet… Starlink. A bit more about sanctuary life and off-gridding ... FarmHaus is totally off-grid, this means that it is important to be mindful of resource usage. Turn unnecessary lights off. Sensible water usage. During extended overcast/rain-filled weeks it is possible that the solar power may run out for a bit. This has never actually happened, but if it does, it’s just a good excuse to enjoy the fire, have a cup of tea and relax by fairy light. Even during the tropical rains over the summer months this has never been an issue. But we can image that it may happen if a week of unseasonal rain occurred during winter (shorter daylight hours). Also, there is the rare occasion that Crabbes Creek may flood - so about once a year the the farm gets flooded in for 12 -24 hours. There is NO DANGER to the house, you may just not be able to leave the Sanctuary while the water subsides along the road. So please THINK CAREFULLY about booking with us if you are more of a 5-star HOTEL ONLY type person. Our family of four happily lives at the sanctuary for weeks at a time without any issues, but we think that perhaps it may not be for everyone! Here at The Owl & The PussyCat Farm Animal Sanctuary we are so very grateful for being able to provide forever and foster homes to all of our gorgeous rescued farmed animals. And 100% of your booking amount (less running costs like gas/cleaning) goes directly to supporting the rescue animals and our ongoing life-saving work. Registration Details PID-STRA-50897
