The architectural roots of the house is from the Victorian era. A small terraced property with a classic valley roof built for workers in the then thriving docks. It survived the extensive bombing of the docks during the second world war to be re-born! The boxy original layout has been dispensed with in favour of a thoroughly modern architect designed makeover providing bright and spacious flexible accommodation. The space Arriving in a shared entrance to the host's ground floor living space, the sweeping curved stairwell places you neatly in what feels like a self-contained apartment on the first floor. Two double bedrooms, each with their own en-suite, are connected by a landing area with a tidy kitchenette. One is a twin bed room (which can be formatted as super king as required) with an ensuite that has a bath with shower over. The other room is King bed with ensuite walk-in large shower. Both rooms are centrally heated with ceiling fans for circulating warm air or cooling in the summer. The first floor bedrooms have exclusive use of this small studio kitchen with combi oven/grill/microwave, large fridge, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. Each room can be locked - or the 2 rooms may be rented together with the ability to lock the upstairs "apartment". The rooms and the "apartment" have separate listing so that you can book to suit requirements. Guest access This listing is for the twin bed room which can be "flex'd" to suit. A super-king overlay mattress provides an extra large luxurious bed. A small desk and ergonomic chair provide a small private workspace with access to optic fibre broadband. A comfy velvet tub chair creates a relaxing reading zone. The room has a double wardrobe with drawers and hanging space. During your stay The host lives in a self contained ground floor flat. The host is happy to provide restaurant and tourist advice based on her extensive knowledge of London! For the benefits of noise reduction on the hard floors - please use soft soled shoes or slippers inside the house - and remove hard shoes and boots in the hallway. Other things to note There is free WiFi access. The room has a full HD 1080p quality with the built-in Freeview HD TV tuner, 2 HDMI ports and built in DVD player. For stays longer guest have the choice of cleaning and laundry every 7/10 days at extra cost, or self cleaning (with vacuum cleaner provided) and two sets of linen and towels to rotate at their desired frequency - doing their own laundry with the washing machine and electric drying rack provided.
