Description
The Tiny Log Cabin is a tastefully renovated, cozy 4 season cottage built in 1947. No matter the season, there’s a ton of outdoor adventure - snowmobiling + ATV trails at your door, hiking and cycling trails, snowshoeing, skiing, paddling, beaches, and more! A scenic 2h drive from Ottawa, 4.5h road trip from GTA. It is truly an adventurer’s paradise and place for relaxation. Tailored for couples, a single family, of small group of friends. The space Our cabin is small, but has lots of amenities to make you feel at home. Two queen sized bedrooms sleep up to 4 guests. One bedroom is very bright with lake views. The other is tucked away quietly at the back of the cabin with a workspace. There is a small portable AC unit for the living room and fans in the bedrooms for the summer. The kitchen is fully equipped. We provide tea & locally roasted coffee, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, and spices. If you prefer to dine out, we can recommend our local favorites! Being a small space, there is no dining table but you can use the 3 stools at the breakfast bar, couches, or gather outside at the outdoor couch/table area. Rogers 5G Wifi, 55” TV with a Roku box (in Guest Mode) to log in with your own streaming accounts. Board games and a library of books for rainy days. Propane fireplace to keep you warm in the winter. The bathroom has a heated floor & glass shower. We offer eco-friendly toiletries (e.g., soap, shampoo, body wash) and laundry detergent. A bath towel is included per guest and are for "indoor use" only. Bring your own beach towel for the hot tub/lake. LAUNDRY AVAILABLE FOR STAYS MORE THAN 3 NIGHTS. We strive to be eco-friendly and provide 1 bath towel per guest. This said, please let us know if you need the laundry to wash towels and we can give you the door lock code to run a load (please try to limit yourself to 1 load if possible). Outdoors is where you’ll spend most of your time. Hot tub, sunrises and stargazing on the dock, wildlife watching from the deck (no railing), large fire pit, BBQ with propane, and hammocks (seasonal). There is a kayak, canoe, and paddle board (with adult/child life jackets) to explore the lake from late May - Oct. Driveway is large enough to fit multiple vehicles, including your snowmobiles and boat. We are tucked away, but close drive to everything you need: 5 min from a gas station and variety store, 12 minutes to Deep River (Valu Mart, restaurants, LCBO & Beer Store), 20 min to Petawawa (larger grocery store, restaurants, etc.). A scenic 45 minute drive to the East end of Algonquin Park hiking and backcountry access points. FREE DAY PASS FOR THE PARK IS INCLUDED. ASK US FOR MORE DETAILS. Check out our Guidebook for local recommendations for day trip ideas, things to do, & places to eat. Guest access You have access to the entire cabin and waterfront. The old bunkie is off limits (except for storing garbage in the animal proof bins), as well as the sheds at the top of the hill. We are in close proximity to our neighbors and you may hear or see them. The deck and backyard are visible to the neighbors on one side. They try to be respectful of our guests' privacy, but we understand this might not be ideal for those looking for total seclusion. The canoe, paddle board, & kayak (paddles & adult/child life jackets are included) are available from late May - Oct. FREE ALGONQUIN PARK DAY PASS IS INCLUDED. Send us a message and we will reserve your spot. Other things to note The hill from the parking to the cabin is a bit steep, so please be aware if you have any physical limitations or large/heavy luggage. It is maintained and sanded in the winter, but it can still be slippery, so be careful. During the winter, a 4WD or at least a vehicle with snow tires is strongly recommended to avoid potentially getting stuck in the parking area uphill. The water around the dock is shallow and a bit weedy, though we try to maintain it. We recommend water shoes for swimming. The water has a sandy and gradual slope to enter, or to avoid weeds - you can take the paddleboard to the middle of the lake and swim from there. We are close to the army base and you will occasionally hear some loud noises in the distance during trainings. Occasionally you hear faint traffic noise from the highway, depending on what direction the wind is blowing. PETS - we accept up to 2 dogs but they must be approved by us first. Cats and other animals are not permitted. We are in close proximity to our neighbors and you may see or hear them at times. Our neighbors to one side are visible from the back deck / backyard, which may not be ideal for those looking for total seclusion. We live in bear country and for this reason, it is common for people to own dogs, including our neighbours. There are no fences between properties, meaning that one of our neighbour’s dogs (who are friendly) may occasionally wander onto the property, although their owners do try to keep their dogs on their side. Garbage & Recycling must be taken home with you, unless your stay overlaps with a waste pick up day. The Free public boat launch on Corry Lake is a short drive to the Petawawa Research Forest. For access to the Ottawa River, you can use the Deep River marina boat launch ($10 for a day slip).
