HOME away from HOME (green, ample and lush)
Description
Forget the bustling, hectic and chaotic city in this spacious, lush and tranquil green oasis. Enjoy a quaint, charming, traditionally built mud house (lovingly furnished and maintained) with a beautiful garden and a magnificent view of the Yeka Hills. You can't get closer to nature in a big city like Addis Ababa. The space The house is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood near the British, Belgian, Kenyan, Russian, Italian and German embassies. The grounds are spacious, with its main house, service quarters, courtyard and gardens. There are two guest rooms available. The first room is a bit darker but has plenty of space for two people with a double bed (150cm x90cm), a large closet where you can store and lock all your things. You have your own small bathroom. The second room is smaller but much brighter. The bed is comfortable for a single person (120cm x 190cm). The room has a large shelf for personal items, a safe and coat hangers. You have your own small bathroom. Both rooms can be locked. Guest access You are invited to use any common area within the house and compound such as the sitting room, the kitchen and the different chill out areas in the garden. During your stay I will be working most of the time but there is always somebody in the house or on the compound and I am also available if you need advice or you face any problems. May be it is good to know that I am an early bird which means I get up at around 6am. If you like to sleep in, no problem. But sure you will hear me and the pets getting ready for the day. I can provide earplugs though... Other things to note Please note my cancellation policy: My cancellation policy is strict. I have had some difficult experiences with two guests in a row who cancelled for personal reasons (they interrupted their stay in Ethiopia altogether) while staying with me and requested a refund despite my cancellation policy. Although my cancelation terms are clear it made me feel extremely uncomfortable to deny those request and having to justify myself. Please note that I cannot accommodate anyone on short notice when guests suddenly leave. I lose income that I count on and money that I use to support less privileged people here. I understand that I may upset or disappoint guests because they were unaware of the cancellation rules or thought I will be more flexible and thus feel they lose money and get cross with me but to be perfectly honest I put the people I help first. What you get for free: *Clean and cosy room with a comfortable bed and a warm blanket. *Own small bathroom (old-fashioned, but clean and functional). *Good continental breakfast (bread, jam, honey, butter, eggs, cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea...), which you have to prepare yourself;0) *towels, shampoo, shower lotion, hair dryer, hot water bottle *Use of washing machine *4G broadband WIFI *insider knowledge and advice where to go and what to do if wanted What you can get for a small extra charge: *Dinner (prepared by the hostess or to cook yourself). What you should know: *There are churches near by which you can hear cause they use loud speakers when chanting and singing (like almost everywhere In Addis) *Also children and animals live on the compound and in the house. If you need solitude it will not be the right place for you. *There are always problems with electricity, gas, and water supply in Addis that affect all of us and that you need to be prepared for as well (e.g., there is no outside water supply from Friday to Monday, which means we have to use the water tank over the weekend and be very economic with showering and washing machine use). *If you have allergies or hypersensitivity to animals, please note that 4 pets live on the premises and in the house.
