Description
Situated over-looking the historic harbour of Mevagissey, this once fisherman's cottage sits directly on the coast path. We have accommodation for 5, 1 double, 1 bunk bed and a single bed. We welcome furry friends and the cottage is a perfect base for long coastal walks, or strolls around the harbour. Alternatively, sit and enjoy the view, take beach days, boat trips and explore local attractions. Our cosy cottage offers a great place to relax and get away. The space Best's Cottage has been in our family for 3 generations. Our Grandfather Best, a Cornishman through and through, spent many summers here with our Grandmother and we joined them as often as we could, spending the days on a beach or a boat. Mevagissey is a fantastic place to explore the south coast of Cornwall especially by boat or foot. Our front door opens directly onto the south west coast path, giving you access to miles and miles of breathtaking coast. Our local beach, Polstreath, is 10-15 mins walk over the headland. Accesible by foot only, it is an idyllic place to spend time or swim in the sea. Guest access Private 3 bedroomed house. Upstairs; Master bedroom with a double bed with amazing views over the bay and harbour. A small table and chairs in the window have seen many a game of cards or scrabble! 2 single rooms in the rear of the cottage are situated in the original 17th century part of the house with wooden panelling. The first bedroom has full size single bunk beds and the second a large single bed. Family bathroom that has been recently refitted with a full sized bath and shower. Downstairs; Entrance gives way to sitting room with comfy sofas and smart TV. This room looks out over Mevagissey with views to nearby Chapel Point across the bay. Open stairs to upstairs and access to kitchen Large kitchen with a good sized dining table. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, double oven, electric stove top and fridge. The kitchen sits at the rear of the property in the original 17th century section which retains it's original wooden ceiling and a (sadly unusable) historic rayburn. Step up to utility room. A useful space to arrive into after beach days or muddy walks, with door to outside shared courtyard. Here you will find a seperate sink (useful for gutting mackerel after a fishing trip), washing machine, tumble dryer and small freezer. Plenty of room for hanging wetsuits or storing holiday paraphernalia. Here you will also find dog bowls and dog towels. Second set of stairs leading to rear bedrooms. Other things to note Part of the charm of Best's Cottage is it's unique situation right on the coast path, one of a number of historic fisherman's cottages, overlooking the harbour. Please be aware that this means the cottage is only accessible by foot. Passengers and luggage can be dropped on the harbour, 2 mins walk away and long stay parking is available in the village. Public transport is also possible with trains to St Austell and then regular buses to Meva.
