Retreat on the Grand River, Very Close to Lansing

This is a very comfortable, somewhat whimsical art-filled property on the Grand River. Airbnb staff recommended describing the space as a "secondary unit" of an "entire place." More accurately, it's the entire lower level of a home 20 minutes from the Lansing airport, downtown Lansing, and MSU. There are two large spacious bedrooms, full kitchen and appliances, and very large home theater/dining/recreation area. Gardens surround the home, and occasionally you may see a variety of animals. The space The guest area features a complete kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, eating areas, fireplace, 77" TV with AppleTV, and walkout to a deck overlooking the river. Clothes washer and dryer are available, and guests are free to hang out in the upper level as well. Extra tables and chairs are available. Film crews have shot videos here. Making popcorn (not micro!) is a near nightly activity, and I always invite guests to either join me, or to take it to the rental area. In summer, some people have spent virtually their entire stay just lounging on a deck that’s literally feet away from the river. Because of my own uncertain travel plans, I only book reservations 3 months in advance of a stay, so if you'd like to book beyond 3 months, please check back. IMPORTANT: For insurance and liability purposes, please do not book for third parties, meaning people who would stay here without your being present. Guest access The rental area is the lower level of the large home with walkouts to the yard, gardens, and river. Guests have access to the whole house: laundry; kayaks; bikes; full kitchen in the lower level rental area and anything in the main kitchen that anyone might need. I regularly cook and entertain, so there are numerous cooking pots/pans and utensils options available. Coffee: Keurig and a variety of cups are available as is a Mr. Coffee machine with a variety of coffees available: your choice! Guests are also free to use the deck feet away from the river and take cushions and extra chairs there, as well as a sun umbrella. Other things to note A note about the rate: The posted rate, with Airbnb's charge and tax is the full amount; there's no cleaning or other fee, and guests have no obligations in terms of doing laundry, taking trash out, etc. Returning guests may notice a bump in the daily rate. This is because Airbnb has switched to pricing such that hosts pay both the service fee formerly paid by guests, and the host fee, and in addition, hosts pay taxes on the rental fee. Guests will now pay one fee: the published rate. Children: Owing to the amount of artwork and electronics in the house, this is not an appropriate place for very young children. Arrival time: While the arrival time is posted as "flexible," please confirm your anticipated arrival time a few days prior to arrival so that I can make plans to greet you upon your arrival. Smoking: Owing to health issues, I am unable to accommodate persons who smoke or vape any substance. If you or anyone in your party smokes at all, PLEASE do not book this house. Much appreciated!
