Unique tree house inspired home perched over the canopy of Mal País with a 180 degree ocean and jungle view that goes from Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve to the Santa Teresa beaches and mountains of Playa Coyote. Located in the heart of Mal Pais, we are just a few minutes walk to restaurants, mini market, beaches and tide pools, and a 7 minute drive to the world famous surf spots of Santa Teresa and all of its bustling restaurants and shops. The spacious top floor has an open floor plan with sliding glass doors and roll down blinds that can be opened to enjoy the 180 degree view and ocean breeze. Lots of space to do your morning yoga (mats provided!) and plenty of seating to relax and take in the scenery. It is truly magical here. The house also features original ceramics and art from Costa Rica and a few amazing international artists. This is a great house for two or three couples, a big family or a few singles (up to 6 guests). Reach out if you have any questions. We are happy to share all of our insider tips and help you to have a memorable trip! Follow us on IG @lacasacorteza and remember to tag us! A Few Quick Facts & Highlights: *Two en-suite bedrooms with ocean view and a third bedroom with jungle view and partial ocean view *Air conditioning and desks in both en-suite bedrooms *Wi-Fi *Fully stocked kitchen *Filtered drinking water in the kitchen *Whirlpool washer and dryer in hallway *Mosquito nets *Safe, low traffic area *5 minute walk to the beach *5 minute walk to local restaurants and 8 minute walk to the mini market *7 minute drive to Santa Teresa The ocean breeze helps keep the house cool most of the day, but each room is also equipped with ceiling fans. The two en-suite bedroom have A/C. You will have access to the entire house except the garage. Jossi will be your local host while you are staying at our home. She will help with anything you need at the house. I will be available at all times via text, as well, if you would like to book ATV or tour reservations or need general assistance. We are located near the crossroads of Calle Carmen and Mal Pais to Cabuya Road. It is mostly residential with easy beach access. A very charming small town with lots to offer: surfing, paddle boarding, yoga, zip lining, sport fishing, horseback riding, and good food. Getting around by ATV is the most fun and efficient way to go, but a 4WD car works well, too. Our parking area can fit two full sized vehicles or 4 quads or motorcycles. We can help you reserve your ATV and have it delivered when you arrive. Please read before booking your stay with us: There is a potential for noise during your stay due to the construction behind our property. Construction noise is endemic to all of Costa Rica and especially to popular places like Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. We have no schedule when it will occur (though it is only during the day and ends by 5pm). It has been on and off for the past year. If you're here for adventure and plan on being at the beach or exploring the area during the day, it hopefully will have little impact on your stay. We cannot guarantee you will have a perfectly peaceful week so our nightly rate is discounted for this reason. Also, please be aware that the house is built on a hillside with a sloped parking area, so we recommend an ATV or 4x4 during your stay. There are steps leading up to the house as well as a staircase inside the home so be sure guests are physically able to climb stairs. Our house is family friendly, but it is an "adventure house." We do not recommend it for young children or those who love to climb railings as it is high up off the ground. Our daughter and her friends are 6 to 7 and it's been great for them. You are welcome to bring younger kids, but we don't have anything to block the stairways so keep a keen eye on them. It is not an uncommon occurrence in Costa Rica to periodically be without power, water or internet in this region. If you're out and about you may not even notice, but we have a large backup water tank (3 days worth) for times like these and will help assist you with getting fresh drinking water in the chance the tank runs out. We also have LED lanterns in the case of power outages. Lastly, living in the outskirts of the Amazonian jungle means monkeys, birds, bats, crabs, scorpions, beetles, lizards, ants, moths, etc, may come by for a visit. Especially at night. We close up doors and windows at sunset and keep lights dim until bedtime. Each bed is equipped with mosquito nets. That being said it is all a part of the Costa Rica charm and adventure and we love it. Life is unexpected here, so enjoy the ride and the beauty. We will do everything we can to make your stay as wonderful and comfortable as possible, but we cannot offer refunds for outages, bad weather, bugs or construction noise. Sorry!
