Our authentic mountain chalets sleep up to 7 guests and feature one master bedroom with queen-sized bed, two lofts and a sleeper sofa in the living area. One loft has 3 twin beds and the second loft has one full-sized bed. The second loft can also accommodate a full or queen sized air mattress if necessary. Our Chalets are equipped with a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware and cookware. Just bring your groceries or have us pick you up some prior to your stay! We have real wood-burning fireplaces fully stocked with firewood for your stay. Our founder, Jack Claycomb; a master mason, designed and built our massive fireplaces as the center focal point of each chalet. Authentic Mountain Chalets – Claycomb Chalets are true authentic mountain cabins, not condos dressed up to look like a cabin. The chalets were built entirely out of locally-sourced timber and feature massive log beams and rough-cut interior. You will not find one ounce of drywall in this all-wood log home. Many of the logs still have their bark on them! Pet Friendly - We are pet lovers! We welcome most breeds of dogs and cats, a rarity here in the Laurel Highlands. We do have a few breed restrictions however. Please inquire about bringing your pet before booking. $100 non-refundable pet fee applies to any visit. Wildlife and Bird Watching – Each chalet has a large bird feeder on the back deck that attracts a large variety of birds. We see everything from Blue-Jays, Cardinals, and Woodpeckers to a variety of Finches, Juncos and Dove. Wildlife plots are set up near the chalets that attract White-Tail Deer as well as squirrels and an occasional grey fox or two. Outdoor activities include golfing, tennis, downhill skiing & snowboarding, stream & lake freshwater fishing, mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, boating, zip-lining, bird watching, swimming, sledding, snow tubing, cross-country skiing and more. We highly recommend seeing Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Fallingwater is a magnificent display of the late Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture masterpiece work. Ohiopyle State Park is also on the top of our list of must see places while visiting the Laurel Highlands. Ohiopyle is located a short 25 minutes’ drive and offers rock climbing, white-water river raft tours, excellent fishing, biking & hiking trails and much more! You will find information in our chalets for several outfitters in the area that can set up your river and cycling tours. 20 miles away, near Somerset, PA is the United Flight 93 Memorial. This past year a 20 million dollar renovation took place and it is truly a place everyone should visit. The Quecreek Mine Rescue Memorial is also nearby and both memorials can be visited in the same day. Our cabin has information provided on most of the places mentioned above. We also have information on local restaurants, ski rental houses, and other local businesses. Entire Cabin Chalet Property Owner / Manager is on premises most of the time during the year to assist guests if problems should arise during their stay. Winter weather conditions may exist November through April. County roads are maintained and we have snow plowing services that come if it snows 4 inches or more. All-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended during winter months.
