Cottage nr Braunton with log burner & river views

Woolstone Cottage is situated in the hillside village of Ashford with views over The River Taw. It is a 10 minute walk from The Tarka Trail with traffic free cycling, walking and running alongside the river. The trail connects to the market town of Barnstaple and the village of Braunton with its surf shops and cafes. The Heanton Court Inn is within walking distance along the trail. Saunton Sands beach is only a 15 minute drive with its three and half miles of golden sands and surf. The space The cottage itself is over 200 years old and the novel Lorna Doone was reputedly written within its walls. You will have full private use of the self contained cottage. There is an enclosed parking area which is shared with the main house with space for one car. Additional car parking is available on the lane 50m down from the cottage. The ground floor has a spacious lounge and dining area with a beautiful feature fireplace which houses a log burner. There is a large corner sofa with room for the whole family to relax with games or a movie. The galley style kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, electric hob, air fryer and oven. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom with toilet, sink, bath and shower over and a separate downstairs toilet. The master bedroom has a feature fireplace (not in use) and a king sized bed with a large chest of drawers and alcove hanging rails. A hairdryer is provided. The second bedroom has two single beds, a chest of drawers and a hanging rail. A Graco travel cot and bottom sheet, Mamas & Papas high chair and changing mat are available (all purchased in 2023). Please note there is a staircase and it is not possible to safely fit stair gates. We provide a bath towel and hand towel for each guest. A bath mat is provided. There are further hand towels available in the kitchen and downstairs toilet. Tea towels and oven gloves are provided. Cleaning products, cloths, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, laundry capsules and bin bags are provided. Two toilet rolls are provided for each toilet. There is liquid hand soap by each sink. There is a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board in the cottage. You are welcome to hang up, rinse and dry wetsuits on the line in the parking area by the shed. There are bodyboards available for you to borrow. We are happy for you to store bikes and charge unmodified e-bikes in our shed during your stay. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage through the front door or rear door from the parking area. Other things to note There is a small cottage garden at the front of the property where you can enjoy a glass of wine or coffee outside next to our quiet lane. Please note, the garden next to the parking area (through the archway) area is private. Our friendly cat, called Evie, lives in the main house but may try and access the cottage during your stay!
