Description
Palomino Cottage is set in a quiet, easily accessible area in the rural village of Bathurst. Great for hikers, cyclists, nature lovers and bird watchers. The village itself has a lovely variety of restaurants, art galleries, shops and nurseries. 15 minutes to the coastal town of Port Alfred and 40 minutes to Makhanda/Grahamstown. Sleeps two in a private double room. A separate room with a bunk bed between the main bedroom and bathroom. Can accommodate one on the coach in the lounge. The space Palomino Cottage is situated on one of the original 1 hectare Bathurst plots laid out in the early 1800's. Due to the size of the property it is really private. There is off street parking behind a lockable gate with easy access from your vehicle to the cottage. There is a Weber / kettle braai and table and chairs outside for braaiing. The cottage entrance leads you into the lounge which has a wood burning fireplace, large couch that can be used as a 'sleeper' and two armchairs. There is a small work desk. This leads to the open plan kitchen via a breakfast nook. Besides having a two plate stove the kitchen is fully equipped. There is tea, coffee, braai spice, salt, pepper and oil for your convenience. The large bedroom leads off the kitchen. It has a double bed, writing desk and a sliding door that opens to the stoep. Between the main bedroom and bathroom is a small room with a bunk bed that sleeps two. The bathroom has a shower, loo , basin and bath. The cottage sleeps two in the bedroom, two in the bunk room and can take a fifth on the large couch in the lounge. Guest access The cottage is situated on it's own private plot with own entrance and lockable gate. It is very private and yours to enjoy. Please be aware that there is about 3km of dirt/gravel road to access the property. Depending on the municipal maintenance that has been done, the roads are often slippery when it has been raining but passable in all vehicles as long as you don't mind them getting muddy. Other things to note There is no fuel available after hours in Bathurst. The local Farmers Co-Op has petrol and diesel during work hours and until 11am on Saturdays. Otherwise the closest fuel is in Port Alfred. There are two convenience stores in Bathurst. One has a good butchery and both sell a basic selection of booze. There are a number of restaurants and pubs in town which are all worth a visit for their individual reasons. Please note that those that offer food are not open very late. So try and plan ahead and check before hand, especially on Sundays.
