The Boshuisje is a place where you can put everything around you "on hold" and choose for yourself. Just let go of all the noise to experience the connection with yourself and nature. It is a private place on the La Bastidie estate where you stay in the middle of the forest and by the river. The luxury of being in nature, your own rhythm. The inspiration for timeless, simple life in the now on the estate. But also many cool excursions, historic villages, the river Le Lot and the vineyards in the area. The space In the cottage, you live in one room (40 m2) in the middle of nature. You will really be able to enjoy life as it is in nature. But with the luxury of a nice bed and plenty of space inside and outside, to relax, recharge or let creative processes flow freely. No traffic, but the sound of a flowing river. No chatter from the people around you, but a concert of birds and owls. No light pollution when evening comes, but a beautiful starry sky when it is dark. No party at the neighbor's, but the scratching of the animals that come to life during the twilight and/or night. The bed is not directly in sight and is 1.60m by 2.00m (not an unnecessary luxury when you know that the beds in France are often only 1.90m long). Bedding, extra pillows and/or blankets are always available, so you can choose how you prefer to enjoy your night's sleep. Towels, bathrobes and natural soap are also provided. There is a separate space to hang your clothes and/or store them just as you are used to. In addition, you can make coffee, Nespresso and tea, drinking water is always sufficiently available. You can store your snacks in your private fridge. If you want to make your own meals, you can use the guest kitchen at the big house. Everything is available here (oil, herbs and spices and vinegar, plates, (wine) glasses, pans, baking utensils, refrigerator, gas stove and oven, natural dishwashing and cleaning agents) to prepare your meal and to enjoy it both indoors and outdoors. (In consultation, breakfast and/or evening meal is possible.) Guest access The cottage is located in the valley and cannot be reached by a normal car. However, you can park your car in a sheltered parking lot, and we will make sure that your luggage arrives at the cottage with the jeep or wheelbarrow. This way you can enjoy the walk (of about 100m) to the cottage. Even though the cottage is on the other side of the river and you have a really private spot there, we are always available if there are any questions. Living with the luxury of nature here at La Bastidie brings with it a number of habits. Maybe something different from what you have at home. This way, we can see this place grow into a fine experience for everyone who wants to come and enjoy it. And I promise you, you won't be the only one who, after the experiences here, for example, installs an outdoor shower at home. Outside under a warm shower is a wonderful experience, if you take into account the time of day and adjust the temperature accordingly. Our agreements with nature get used to quickly, but do require your attention. There are additional common areas (kitchen, Grange (large open shed for shade during the hot days, shelter in a summer rain shower, or to let your creativity run free), fireplace, heated outdoor shower and petanque court, in and near the main building that you can use. If you like to swim in the river, there are two places nearby in the woods where you can swim in the river. Although the place is in the woods, we live about 2 km from the train station and 30 minutes from Rodez Airport. And for the people who walk the Compostella route from Conques to Figeac, it is a wonderful place to catch your breath before you walk on again. Other things to note During your stay here, it is possible to be completely self-sufficient. But if you would like to enjoy an extensive breakfast and/or a vegetarian meal in the cottage, you can indicate this after booking (€15 per meal per person. Organic, local and seasonal, food allergies are taken into account). If you choose to cook for yourself, we recommend that you do your shopping before you arrive here. We often hear from our guests that once they arrive here, they don't want to leave the valley. If you decide to come by plane or train, you can choose to have the refrigerator filled in consultation (price depends on the duration of your stay and requested at least 1 week before arrival). Transport to and from the train station/airport is also possible on request (extra fees may apply). If you are walking the Compostella Route and want to relax for a few days, it is also possible to be taken to and from the route after consultation (additional costs may be charged). Finally, the cottage and the grounds are still being renewed and improved every time. This has no effect on the peace and quiet you will experience during your stay. I also keep the photos as up to date as possible. But because I enjoy adding or renovating elements in the cottage, there may be minor changes that have not yet been captured in the photo. The atmosphere remains the same, only occasionally the furniture is moved to adapt the cottage to your needs and to improve after feedback from our guests.
