Description
The whole place to yourself! Enjoy privacy and quaint charm in this vintage 1930s home nestled in a historic neighborhood. Walk to the University of Arizona! Close to Banner University Medical Center. Light rail to downtown and beyond is one block away. The space This is a single-family home on a double-wide lot in Blenman Elm Historic District. There are neighbors to the east and west, but a great feeling of privacy, front and back. There is a lovely front yard with mature mesquites and cacti. There is also a large southwest-facing front porch with good sunset views. In the rear there is a large, deep pool (unheated) and several concrete patios of which several are covered. There is a fire pit. The property is bi-level, but the second level is a full basement that is not part of the Rustic Inn for guests. There is one great room as you enter that has the dining area with original built-ins at one end and a living room area at the other end, with sliders leading out to the north-facing view of the Santa Catalina Mountains. An original niche once held a bust of UA music professor Rollin Pease, who also had a grand piano in the great room. There are two bedrooms of equal size with a bath between. The bath features original beehive floor tile and tiled walls. There is a bathtub. Besides the kitchen, which has a wooden, distressed-look floor and the bath, the floors throughout are oak with polyurethane coating. The windows are all original. There is central air and heat throughout, except the small retro kitchen, which boasts a vintage gas stove that throws off pilot light heat, and has a window AC. The kitchen leads out the pool area. It has a live-edge mesquite sink countertop, a microwave, toaster oven and small fridge. There is a large fridge on the pool patio. The Pueblo-style home is a designated national historic site called the Rollin Pease Home, for the University of Arizona music professor who built it in 1931. The neighborhood is diverse and lively. It is about one block from the UA and Banner University Medical Center. The Rustic Inn sits about a block east of Campbell Avenue, one of Tucson's Restaurant Rows. Guest access The entire house with front and back yards and pool are accessible to guests. There is a lower yard, viewable from the north patio, and a side yard to the east that are off-limits. As is the basement. Other things to note If your stay is longer than 12 days, we will require access to the pool through an exterior gate to the left of the front porch in order to add chemicals. At no time during your rental will we enter the home without your express permission! If you would like, we can arrange the time we will service the pool with you in advance. Please enjoy "this old house," but be aware that in 2024 she is 94 years old! Like any woman her age, she needs to be treated gently. The home's exterior walls are double-brick wide with original lathe plaster, so the house stays cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter. The thick walls also keep out noise. Her windows are original, and there are no screens. Some open, some are wired shut, so please don't open those. Some of the original interior doors show damage and wear.
