Hidden away, nestling in the fold of a hill on our private country estate, George’s Getaway offers a spacious rural retreat ideal for group or family gatherings. The single-story lodge has been uniquely and stylishly transformed, providing an unrivalled escape to the country, including a raised sun deck and sleeping dome with stunning views down the valley. * Please note that this lodge is only suitable for a maximum of 6 adults and 2 children (2 of the beds are only suitable for children) *. The space At a glance: Accommodation (single-storey lodge) with a geodesic dome on a three-meter platform at the front of the lodge. Indoor bedrooms: 1 king bedroom with twin freestanding bathtubs and a family suite consisting of a king bedroom and a twin bedroom with small single beds, with an adjoining ‘Jack & Jill’ bathroom (the twin bedroom is only suitable for children due to the size of the beds). Outdoor bedrooms: 1 geodesic dome with a circular super-king-sized bed (heated suitable to use all year round). Bathrooms: Twin freestanding bathtubs in the master bedroom with a separate toilet. The family suite has a corner bath in the master bedroom and a shower room with a toilet that joins the two bedrooms. There is an outdoor toilet for people sleeping in the dome. Kitchen: Fridge, wine fridge, freezer, oven & grill, microwave, dishwasher, filter coffee machine and washer/dryer. Minimum two-night stay. Any day check-in. Description: Rest and relaxation are the watchwords here and George’s Getaway is the perfect base from which to appreciate the beautiful sweeping views of the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Magnificent sunset views down the valley from the raised Dome/seating area. Ideal suntrap for afternoons and stargazing evenings. French doors lead out onto a spacious deck area where you will find everything you could need for al-fresco dining – including your very own eight-seater barbecue hut and seven-seater hot tub, where you can soak away your stresses. Steps lead up from the outdoor deck to a 4-metre platform, where you’ll find a geodesic dome equipped with a super-king-sized circular bed. This is the ideal place from which to stargaze in real comfort. – There is even a telescope provided for your convenience! This platform is also a sun-trap with a view, equipped with table, chairs and sun-loungers - perfect place to read a book! Grazing sheep, ponies and alpacas are your neighbours in the fields below, as well as wonderful wildlife including woodland deer. Binoculars are provided to spy the birds that fly in from time to time including woodpeckers, herons, owls and the occasional red kite. Centrepiece of George’s Getaway is the magnificent king-sized master bedroom, which boasts twin freestanding bathtubs within the bedroom, so you can climb straight into bed after a relaxing soak. A family suite takes the form of another king-sized bedroom with a sumptuous corner bath, a twin children’s room and a ‘Jack & Jill’ (two-door) bathroom that links them. There’s even a small window between rooms so the children can be checked on without being woken up in the night. The sleek and stylish kitchen is furnished with contemporary lush SMEG and Joseph Joseph accessories. And the many thoughtful touches extend to a welcome basket on arrival for all guests, including milk, fruit, locally roasted filter coffee and delicious cake made by a local baker. For those rainy days, we’ve also got you covered, with the 55-inch TV and DVD player plus a selection of board games. George’s Getaway has central heating throughout controlled by wall-mounted thermostats so you’ll stay cosy, whatever the weather. *Please also note that this lodge is only suitable for a maximum of 6 adults and 2 children (2 of the beds are only suitable for children)*. Important stuff: Check in: 3pm Check out: 10am Due to the tranquil nature of our site, the surrounding wildlife and guests staying in our other properties, we politely ask all guests to keep outside noise to a minimum and for no loud music to be played at all times. The hot tub and barbecue hut are exclusively for the use of guests staying in George’s Getaway. There is a woodland play area with a fire pit on site that is exclusive for the use of guests staying in Will’s Tree House, Jess Tree Bach and the Chicken Shed Lodge. However, with those guests’ prior permission or if those properties are vacant, you are more than welcome to use this space. All bed linen and towels are provided. Complimentary towelling robes are also provided for all adult members of the party. Free WiFi. Cots (plus linen), highchairs, children’s toilet seats, shower stools and toilet frames are provided on request at no extra cost. Charcoal, wood and firelighters are provided for the outdoor pizza oven and barbecue hut. Self-check-in (you will be emailed the door lock code and directions before your arrival). The owners live on-site and can be contacted at any time during your stay for assistance. There is parking for three cars immediately outside and plenty of parking for additional vehicles about 10 meters away. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer all provided. All kitchen essentials are provided (washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, foil, salt/pepper etc). A welcome pack of fruit, cake, filter coffee and milk is left for all guests on arrival. Please note that we do not allow dogs in this lodge. Other things to note There are 5 other holiday properties on our farm - 4 lodges and a tree house. We have 3 alpacas - Barry, Geoff and Pepper, plus two ponies - Stan and Queenie, in the paddock that George's Getaway overlooks. We have to do twice daily checks and dose of the hot tub for safety purposes - we'll try to not disturb you.
