Description

You won’t want to leave! Woodland Heights welcomes you to a rural retreat with fantastic views of the Western Bay of Plenty coastline, featuring the length of Matakana Island, down to the city of Tauranga and the Mount. Our B&B is nestled in the natural beauty of the bush under the Kaimai Range. Walk up to the stream, wander amongst livestock or through the avocado orchard. The unit accommodates up to four adults and is 5 min from the township of Katikati, 15 min from Waihi Beach, 45 to Tauranga The space Full guesthouse facilities are available within this quiet and peaceful B&B - bedroom, living/dining room, kitchenette, bathroom. The King-size bed in the bedroom is very comfortable (so we’re told) and the sofa in the lounge area can fold out for extra adult guests to a Queen-size bed (with an extra thick mattress topper for your comfort). The kitchenette has a microwave, fridge, crockery/cutlery, toaster and kettle. An iron and ironing board are also available for your use within the unit. The bathroom is stocked with most essentials. PLEASE NOTE: unfortunately our B&B is not set up for children and for safety reasons we are UNABLE to accommodate for children. Our B&B overlooks native bush right outside your bedroom windows, with a large Puriri tree beside where our native Tui birds love to visit and sing, and when the berries are in season you may be treated to the occasional Kereru (wood pigeon) visit. Venture outside, and there are expansive views out to sea where you can see both ends of Matakana Island (the inlet by Bowentown all the way to the other end towards Tauranga and the Port). Mt Maunganui, Karewa Island and on a clear day Motiti Island in the distance can also be viewed. The peninsulas of Matahui Road, Pahoia and Omokoroa can usually be seen, along with the Papamoa hills beyond. Regular container ships can be seen on the horizon, and cruise ships coming into and leaving the Port of Tauranga can often be seen in season (Oct to April). Guest access Along with our B&B, some parts of our lifestyle block may also be available for guests to access. Whether this be wandering up our native bush walk path to the stream, chatting to our livestock, or ambling through our avocado orchard. Further details are written in the compendium within the unit. Please note: this is a working farm block/orchard so some areas may be off limits at various times of the year. Other things to note You will be immersed in nature, with plenty of birdlife all around (at last count we have seen around 25 different species) including regular Tui, Sacred Kingfisher (Kotare), Piwakawaka (NZ Fantail), Heron, Hawks, Morepork, Pheasants, Swallows, and families of Quails often walking past. We have a young avocado orchard which you overlook from the B&B, with around 545 trees, a small house orchard, Wiltshire sheep and a few cattle on the land, along with our four hens who sometimes decide to provide us with eggs 🤨. Please note: We do also have a very fluffy cat called Sasha. Although she would probably love to join you, we do ask that you don’t allow her into the guesthouse unit please.
