Mevy, A Victorian Slip Coach
Mevy, A Victorian Slip Coach
Description
Award-winning beautifully converted Victorian railway carriage. Mevy is sumptuous, with gilded maple and mahogany panels, velvet upholstery and a roll top bath. Family and allergen friendly, we can provide a cot and high chair on request. Mevy sleeps five, but two bunks are only 5'7" so only for smaller people. Lovely view over rolling hills. Mevy has all mod cons but is very eco friendly - Railholiday have won numerous national and local awards for our green approach . Sorry, no pets in Mevy. The space Please note that the second bedroom has three bunks. All three are narrower than standard bed sized; one is 6'3" long, but the other two are 5'7". This makes two of the bunks in the second bedroom suitable for small adults or children only. Although not very high, the longest bunk requires ladder access. Railholiday have been offering holidays in railway carriages for 25 years now. In 2016 we won the country's top prize for sustainable tourism; Gold in the Visit England awards and have won the top prize of Winner of Winners at the Cornwall Tourism Awards, as well as the best self catering accommodation in the iPaper's Staycation Award 2020/21. Alongside awards for sustainability (including the Most Sustainable Small Business award in the Cornwall Sustainability Awards in 2023) we have won awards for our wildlife friendly gardens, and for accessibility. Although we are green to the core, there is no loss of comfort. Your energy comes from renewable sources, our gardens are tended to support year round pollinators, and you'll find some lovely details in the carriages that Dave has salvaged; mahogany shelves, cast iron brackets... We have three other carriages in St Germans, each in their own independent space. There are another four awaiting restoration including a carriage built by GWR for Queen Victoria. It's a great place to stay for anyone with an interest in trains. Guest access We have ten acres of private woodland, a games room with DVDs. The woodland is only accessible on foot, and includes a winter snowdrop walk, wild garlic and bluebells in spring and fine autumn colours. Please let us know if you have dietary requirements or would rather we didn't put in fresh flowers. Other things to note We welcome everyone. Although we don't offer breakfast, our usual welcome pack will be provided, which indudes milk sticks, tea, coffee, our own home grown apple juice and biscuits. There is an excellent village store for provisions, and a cafe and bar that serves food in the village, including breakfasts.
