Garden cottage in Emmarentia; Wi-Fi 24/7

Description

The sister to our 'Apartment in leafy upmarket suburb' - same property and hosts - this spacious 1-bedroom apartment is set in leafy Emmarentia, just up the road from the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, with easy access to both the CBD and Johannesburg's northern suburbs. Even though fully equipped for self-catering, you also have easy access to many restaurants, coffee shops and bars in Greenside, and only a little further away the vibey 'villages' of Parkhurst and Melville. The space This self-contained garden cottage is located in the leafy, quiet and secure suburb of Emmarentia, in the North-West of Johannesburg - 10 min drive to Rosebank, 15 min to Sandton, 20 min to Bryanston. Just 7 min drive will get you to the large regional shopping centre of Cresta with 250 shops. Accomodation consists of a spacious separate bedroom (with queen sized bed (152cm x 188cm) made up with quality linen) with folding door for privacy, bathroom (with shower), lounge and dining area, and kitchen equipped for self-catering with a full 4-plate stove and oven, and full fridge with 3 freezer draws . There is no TV in the apartment, but you are welcome to download or stream content onto your own device via our free 20Mbps Wi-Fi, provided of course you use a legal service. The apartment is serviced weekly. Rotational blackouts (aka load shedding) fortunately seem to be a thing of the past in South Africa. In the event of a power outage we supply a small gas cooker and rechargeable lights and have also provided a plug-point connected to the main house solar battery backup solution to charge/run your devices during load shedding for your convenience. Most lights have been fitted with bulbs that have a built in backup battery that lasts for several hours. Our Wi-Fi is powered by the backup solution. Due you water restrictions we are no longer able to maintain our pool, but the pool house is perfect for kicking off your day over coffee or for winding it down over a drink, or even for enjoying a meal. Please be aware that this is a shared space. In addition, due to the under-maintenance of the water infrastructure in Johannesburg, we sometimes experience water cuts between late at night (after midnight) and early in the morning (around 6 am). This is done to build reservoir capacity so that there is always water during normal waking hours. There is secure parking for one small to medium sized vehicle for you on our property behind an electronically operated sliding gate. We are in walking distance to the 81-hectare free entry Johannesburg Botanical Gardens (with several dams and expansive parklands) and the vibey 'village' of Greenside with lots of eateries catering to a wide range of tastes and budgets (Pizza, Sushi, Indian, Continental, Chinese, Fusion and more), coffee places, bars, hair and beauty salons, shops and two laundrettes. Our local GP (Physician) is in our road. A few minutes drive will find you at 44 Stanley, or the 'villages' of Parkhurst (a glamorous mix of couture, interior design and dining), Parktown North and trendy Melville, with an even bigger collection and selection of restaurants, bars and shops. Parktown North and Parkhurst in particular boast a wonderful and eclectic collection of speciality shops and galleries, perfect for gift-shopping. We recommend you use the ride-hailing services Uber or Bolt to get around town if you don't have a car. We are not far from attractions such as Constitution Hill, the Apartheid Museum, Soweto and the Lion Park, and can assist with arranging tours to these places. Our detailed guest information file will help orientate you, but we are available to answer any additional questions that you may have. Guest access You will have access to the garden area around the pool (but not the pool itself, as we are unable to maintain it due to water restrictions) and the pool house, as well as parking for one vehicle under shade-cloth and behind an electronically operated sliding gate. Other things to note Although we do keep pets, they are well-behaved, and our dogs are restricted to parts of the property separate from the apartment. Think of it like having neighbours with pets.
