The Chilkoot Cottage: Bear Viewing & Fishing

This quiet and cozy 2-bedroom cottage is located 10 miles from Haines near the famous Chilkoot River, where bears and eagles congregate. Enjoy sweeping views of Lutak Inlet and the beach where bears and eagles may be seen. Chilkoot River and Lake are just down the road and offer fishing for salmon and world-famous bear viewing. The house is fully furnished and feels like a real Alaskan home. Chilkoot Cottage is truly the best location in Haines to enjoy a real Alaskan experience. The space The cottage is set up for 3 people and we don’t allow more than 3 guests per stay. All you need to bring is your own food and drink. A TV with Netflix/Prime and lots of books and board games are available in a small, cozy little house. Enjoy eating dinner on the wrap-around porch while watching eagles and bears or eat inside and watch through the window. A patio offers more outdoor space and the beach is in your front yard. Your stay will be made easier with a washer/dryer, basic condiments and spices, an assortment of jams, coffee, a full cook set and all towels and linens needed. The large bedroom features a queen bed and the smaller has a twin. Guest access Enjoy the entire cottage and the yard on both sides of the house. A cleared path through the beach grass to the beach is right in front of the house. Other things to note Be bear aware. There are lots of bears in the area and while they don't cause problems, they will be attracted to smells. Please do not clean any fish on the property. Please clean fish at the river. Please drive slowly through the neighborhood.
