This is a rare opportunity to disconnect from tourist trails & connect with real Tasmania & easy access to natural wonders The space THE GLORY DAYS in 1939, is when the bank first opened its doors, it represented progress and prosperity for our small Tasmanian community. The Art Deco design wasn't just fashionable - it was a statement of optimism during challenging economic times. Local craftsmen spent months perfecting the intricate ceiling holdings you'll see in the main living area, which was once the public banking hall. The managers office still remains was considered the most prestigious room in town, where important decisions affecting the community were made. Stories of a robbery from the roof into the safe that went wrong when to much noise from the jackhammer was made & multiple transactions were dealt. When banking changed in the 1990's and smaller branches began to close this building underwent a thoughtful transformation preserving the heritage while creating a comfortable living space, vault doors remain intact, the original managers office & managers living quarters with the original pink bathroom. Farmers, shopkeepers & families whose descendants still live in the area once anxiously watched bank tellers record their transactions, You're sure to run into someone who went into the bank as a child. Visit the coffee shop just 5mins walk out the bank doors, the heritage room in the old church, fill up at the old garage or witness the original store keepers shop being transformed into the new postoffice. The butcher next door with local cuts of meat from around the area & daily specials. Though the bank is now your holiday accommodation the traditions continue.
